We got up about eight this morning and went to a carboot sale, just for a change.
I bought a strong plastic flexi tub for weeding made by Gardena and I bought myself another miners lamp made in Eccles where the cakes come from. I have two now and I gave my one I found last year to my brother for a Christmas present.
Have you been to any carboot sales recently?
I wish!
ReplyDeleteAt least you visited some carboots when you visited England recently Debby.
ReplyDeleteTwo great finds Dave. I love that miners lamp.
ReplyDeleteThanks JayCee. Yes it is sitting proudly next to my other miners lamp on the unit. Glad you like it.
ReplyDeleteNo I have not Nosy Parker! On my mother's side of the family, there were many coal miners and I would have loved to be in possession of one of their old lamps. I am not sure that any other lamps would hit the right emotional spot.

DeleteThat should say: Thanks for your mining lamps thoughts YP. My collecting is like the music I like, very eclectic. I must buy some good reading glasses!
DeleteReading glasses will be no use down a coal mine. You need a hard hat and a caged canary called Tweetie Pie.

ReplyDeleteWe watched Antiques Roadshow on the Beeb last night and they went to a former Northumberland Colliery. There was an ex miner showing Fiona (Stevie's sister) Bruce his old mining lamps. Apparently they only carried them to show gas and the pits have electricity and lights. We once went down a mine in Wakefield. You went down in the lift but you could exit the mine by walking up a slope.
