A Text Message And Some Windfall Apples 🍎 For The Livestock.

I had got a text message from one of my neighbours when I was working in the veg plot.

He had left me a wheelbarrow full of apples that he had collected from his orchard and I could give them to our livestock

Happy apple eating pigs.

The pygmy goats 🐐 loved their 🍎 🍎.

It's been a great year for fruit, vegetables and πŸ’flowers.

  1. It has been a good year, I sent a booted cauliflower to my neighbours 3 chickens, its great when nothing is wasted.

  2. Yes it's been wonderful Marlene. The great self sufficiency guru and Author John Seymour said that the dustbin man should never need to visit the smallholding. That was back in the nineteen sixties when most things were organic. We often clear the dregs out of food jars and put them in the pig bucket. They turn it into food for themselves and fym for the veg plot.

  4. Very lucky Linda. They all tucked in and enjoyed their apple feast. It was goodcof him to go to the trouble of collecting them and raking them up and placing them in the wheelbarrow. Another neighbour leaves us a bag of vegetables peelings under a big plant pot on their garden wall.

  6. No JayCee. I suggested cider or apple juice to the owner of the apple trees. Maybe next year.

  7. It’s so nice when you get unexpected gifts. There are still wonderful people who think about others.

  8. It's very kind of your neighbour to do this. I noticed that a house in the village has left some windfalls on the wall already. They are early this year.

  9. It was kind of him Jules. They were all over his grass and he said he didn't want the wind falls to attract wasps and vermin. Everything seems to be early this year. The Rhododendrons in Muckross House and Gardens were in full flower in March. When I lived in England they flowered in May.
