Making New Plants On A Warm Sunny May Morn.


I made fifty new perennial plants this morning.  First of all I divided four Ajuga plants and ended with forty new plants complete with roots,  which I potted up with two bags of cheap German garden centre compost:


New Ajuga plants for next to nowt.

I then went to the other end of the polytunnel and checked on some Nepeta cuttings I made about two or three weeks ago.  To my delight they had grown roots:


That's  fifty plants for four Euros.

    What on earth do you do with all these plants, Dave? Presumably you sell them on somewhere? Are you able to go to car boots or anything? I've read of the growers who produce for Chelsea throwing millions of pounds worth of plants away. So sad. Even though garden centres in Wales can, in theory, open, travel in Wales is still restricted so I can't see many people here being brave enough to venture out to buy anything. It's going to be a terrible year for the industry.

    The plants flowers are attracting lots of bees the veg artists. A very kindlady friend of ours called with a bottle of Scottish Malt because I wouldn't accept any money for some perennials I gave her.

    Would love to sell at a market or carbootsale but the powers that be won't allow them to happen. Yet the supermarkets can sell plants that are grown in Holland. I agree the plants industry will have a terrible year along with the pubs and hotels and other parts of the tourism industry which rural and coastal areas depend on for their livelihoods. Thanks.

    Hi JayCee. That works for the willows and Dogwoods. Cuttings can take a long time and some times they don't root. They are happy now that I put the hosepipe and sprinkler on them. Rain on Sunday so perhaps they won't watering? We'll see. The polytunnel plants drink more than me.😊

    Hi Rachel. Hail in May? We have had a few frosts this week but no plants damage and the potato stalks above the ground are fine. It's been a lovely month and my sun tan is like someone who's been on holiday to Portugal. Long may it continue and just rain at night. The plants need it. Thanks Rachel.

    FINALLY FREE FROM HERPES VIRUSI thought my life had nothing to offer anymore because life became meaningless to me because I had herpes virus, the symptoms became very severe and bold and made my family run from and abandoned me so they won't get infected.     I got tested of hepatitis B early this year, I experienced dark urine and ribs pain so I went to the hospital for treatment and I was diagnosed of HEP B.
