We drove up the tunnel road from Glengariff to Kenmare on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon. We went browsing and shopping in Lidl and Aldi then decided to go for a woodland walk next to Kenmare Bay. Here's some pics:
Even Dandelions look pretty at this time of year and the provide much needed nectar for the bees.
A Rhododendron archway. I bet it's resplendent in colour when it's in flower.
We spotted vegetables growing in raised beds and an enormous polytunnel.
The park was originally private and planted and made for the first Marquis of Lansdowne. It's great that common folk like yours truly can now go for a saunter there and take in the views and breathe the sea air.

Like the way you can turn your photos into a slide show. And what a terrific show. That's a great walk. You'll have to go back and take a pic of that Rhodo archway when it's in bloom.

Thanks Linda. That arch way is like a scene from the Hobbit by Tolkein. I think they will be soon in full bloom. They like the acidic peaty Irish soil.

DeleteYes, we had lots in our old garden and we see that the previous owners of this house have planted some down the drive. Can't wait to see if they flower this year.

Many many years ago we were caught in a rain storm in this park and ran for cover into the Kenmare Park Hotel, just under the entrance porch, mind you but they invited us in and since I was visibly pregnant and wet all the way into my welly boots, we got fresh towels and a splendid afternoon tea all for free. Those were the days . . .
