You know it's getting hot when you hear people say:
"Is it hot or is it me?"
Also we seem to don't know what to have for our tea.
We had a salad the other night and I was starving watching the snooker ("Go on Wonnie!") and I had to get myself a couple of packets of salt and vinegar crisps.
Yesterday J sent me aWhatsApp text message with the following picture:
Lidl Kofta kebabs."Will they be spicy?"
"I dunno!"
"Shall we try em with some salad and my home grown Japanese onions?"
My home grown Japanese 🌰 🌰.
"If you want".
That was our tea sorted. I had some of my hot spicy sauce with mine:
I have never bought an hot 🔥 🥵 and spicy kebab here in Ireland.
Growing up in Blighty you could get: mild, medium and hot kebabs.
One excellent kebab house in Kent put whole green chillies on top of your doner.
Do you like hot and spicy food?
Verdict: It was OK 👍 but not hot and spicy for old asbestos mouth.😀
I don't eat chillies, so they would not be for me, I do like a lamb minted one. My onions are not as far on as yours, but they are still happily growing. It's salad time here, we had a wonderful ploughman's whilst away and we recreated it here, mine again without the pickled onions.
ReplyDeleteGive me a pub beer garden in the West Country laden with ploughman's lunch, scones, pasties.. All washed down with pints of bitter or cider.
DeleteI only tried kebab from a takeaway once - the amount of salt in it put me off for life. I couldn6eat it. Your onions are looking fine - which reminds me I have some sprouting shallots around here somewhere that will need planting out soon.
ReplyDeleteThey kebabs are so much spicier in Blighty TM. It's difficult to buy hot and spicy food in Ireland.
DeleteDo you like hot and spicy food?
ReplyDeleteYes. I am partial to a grilled Lincolnshire sausage or two.
Cumberland is very good.
ReplyDeleteThat's where they hold annual gurning competitions.
DeleteOh. Have you ever attended the World Welly Wanging Championships in Upperthong near Holmfirth? It looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteActually, I think that wanging is an unhealthy pastime. It can make you go blind. I have been to Upperthong but not for that event.
DeleteI have been to Holmfirth but never drank any last of the summer wine.
ReplyDeleteMedium or mild, . Hot food is good in winter.... 😅
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Linda. All the English chippies and pubs closed or last orders were around 10.30 when I was growing u. So we would go to an Indian restaurant and order a curry and drink at least 4 pints of lager. I had been drinking bitter all night. The lager was gassy and you soon got full up. You would probably leave half your hot 🔥 🥵 curry. It was a macho thing who could eat the hottest. That was my introduction to Hot and Spicy Food. Then the kebab houses opened. My old friend would warm his half eaten doner for breakfast. I love my hot food.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I like spicy food it has an unfortunate effect on my digestive tract! 🔥 🥵
ReplyDeleteJ is the same JayCee. She can't even eat lettuce because it goes through her. How much is a pint of best bitter or lager in the land of banks, cheese and cuckoo clocks JayCee?
ReplyDeleteWell, our glass of draught lager today was around £5!!
DeleteYou would pay that here JayCee. It's not outrageous. I can't wait for my 2.70 Pounds pints in Wetherspoon's in September. I should get a : " I'm only here for the beer" hat or T shirt.😊
