Aston Martin Plant?๐Ÿค”

The other day some one asked me if I knew what was eating the leaves on their mother's Aston Martin plant.

I nearly answered:

" James Bond perhaps?"

I didn't of course.  I asked if they had a photo of the said plant on their mobile phone?

They showed me a photo of a beautiful Azalea in flower and it's leaves with holes in them.

I consulted Professor Google like I do for most things and sure enough it came up with Azalea Leaf ๐Ÿ› ๐Ÿ›.

One should spray them with Neem oil.  I suppose physically removing any flickers would also help?

  1. I haven't heard of that variety of azalea. Sounds very sporty!

    1. It prefers it shaken not stirred and I hope it doesn't shoot bullets at you.

  4. I use neem oil with mixed results, I've planted more things to bring in ladybirds, ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคžtrying to be wildlife friendly as I can be.

    1. Washing up liquid, soapy water is good for aphids and other leaf biters Marlene. Physically removing the culprits also works. Beetles and frogs and ladybirds are the gardeners friends.

  5. Neem oil? Can you buy it at a petrol station?

  6. No but you can buy a can of lager or a bottle of wine at a lot of modern petrol stations these days. Tell your gnome friends YP to go to a elf (Health) shop like Holland and Carrot for a bottle of neem oil.

  7. I definitely think you should of said James Bond lol
I make a spray out of cooking oil a little bit of washing up liquid and water. The mix is 3-1. Water is three. The squirt of washing is the emulsifier Shake well and spray all the leaves. The oiliness prevents the critters from staying on the leaves.
    Cheap and environmentally friendly.
I also use this on my roses for aphids. Works a treat

    1. It was a green fingers solution rather than a Goldfinger one Angela. Thanks for the aphids spray tips.

  8. You had me at Aston Martin plant wondering if I could grow one of my own or it was something that Lance Stroll had an exclusive on.

  9. Lance Stroll gets to drive them Tigger's Mum. An Aston Martin plant sounds like the place where they make the cars.
