Going Shopping For A Lawnmower And Coming Home With A George Foreman grill!

Sorry I haven't posted a blog for a while.

I went to Bantry town yesterday on the look out for a secondhand lawnmower. My old mower gave up the ghost early this year and I have been having to strim the lawns with my petrol strimmer.

It was a typical mizzle Autumn day in West Cork.  It certainly was not a day for mowing the lawns.  To make up for that the lawnmower repair and sales shop was closed.

So we went to Lidl and bought a George Foreman grill.  It's great and we bought three lovely steaks for eleven Euros.  The grill cooked them really well and the lawns will have to wait for a new mower.

Hope you're all well?

  1. WOW!!!!!

    He has appeared!!!!

Thought maybe you got stranded, out on your job! -grin-

But you have returned to dry land and to blogging again.

Lawns no longer need to be cut, around here. Well, ordinary people's grass. Some of the fancy people, may still pay people to cut theirs.

Now, has turned into the season, of leaf gathering. And driving around town, you have to avoid big piles of leaves, at the side of the road, waiting for the Public Works Dept. to come pick them up.

So, 'tis the season of grumbling, about when willllllll the Public Works Dept. pick them up!!!!!!! ,-)))) Which is better than grumbling about the weather. Because one can call City Hall and complain, about leaf pick up. But there is no place to call, to complain about the weather.

    1. Hi Wisp. Wish I had all those leaves to make into compost and leaf mould. If you leave them in a plastic bag for twelve months, you get someo lovely stuff. Thanks.

  2. I don't have a lawn, is that shocking? Because of drought here in California many of us have turned lawns into areas of wood chips, pretty stones and plants that don't require much water. I have a George Foreman grill too, lamb burgers turn out nice on it.

    1. Astro turf lawns are becoming popular over here in Ireland Terra. No mowing is required. We are very impressed with the new grill. Thanks!

  3. I have never heard of a George Foreman grill. I just looked it up, looks pretty useful. I'll stick to lighting my little BBQ I think. We are still having great weather here. Good to see you back posting again Dave.

  5. Lawnmower? What'd yer want a lawnmower for? It's the Emerald Isle where you live. Get yersel ' down the road and borrow a goat. To cut the grass for you I mean, not to grill the poor beast.

  6. Hi Gwil,

I still haven't purchased a new secondhand lawnmower. I am tired of strimming the lawns and raking up the grass and putting it on ye olde compost heap. We use to have goats. They are very partial to garden plants. Thanks!

    1. A goat tried to eat my shirt which was pegged on the washing line. I had two, that's goats not shirts, to keep my wilderness in some sort of order when I lived Up North.

  7. Yes the goats are characters and browze grazers. Paddy Mcgintys goat by Val Doonican comes to mind.
