Gosh it's been a fabulous spring and early summer. Especially for flowers and vegetables.
Today I took the colander to our veg plot and dug fresh Homeguard new 🥔 potatoes and lifted a onion for our tea tonight:
Newly washed new potatoes and a onion.
We are going to cook honey and mustard sausages in the air fryer and make Colcannon with mashed new potatoes, Savoy cabbage. Covered with onions and Guinness gravy.
The veg plot keeps us well fed.
Your tea sounds wonderful. All good, wholesome grub.
ReplyDeleteWe are having our freshly dug new potatoes too, but with chicken tossed in a sweet chilli sauce and some steamed fine green beans.
Yes JayCee. Good plain, fresh and wholesome grub with no chemicals used to grow it. Your tea sounds good.
ReplyDeleteSounds brilliant, we are having a early family BBQ, it's sunny and very breezy, I'm still using my homegrown onions, they will go well with burgers.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it a joy and labour of love to grow and eat your own food Marlene? It's been raining here.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've meant to tell you. I think of you every single time I see this. I bought myself a small forsythia on clearance. I planted it and it grew very nicely. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the snow would slide from the house roof and crush the plant. It was broken into three pieces. I gathered them and put them in a vase to bring inside, to force the flowers. I thought it would be cheering because winter was dragging on so long. Funny thing? I now have 4 forsythia bushes. They are rooted and are planted and look to be doing very nicely. I am multiplying plants the Northsider Dave way!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful propagating story Debby. It's a very addictive and productive hobby. Don't start collecting plant pots like me. You can very soon become a plantaholic. I am always making new plants from cuttings and by division and seed. You will soon have a nice garden for the price of a few bags of potting compost Debby.
ReplyDeleteMASHED new potatoes? That's heresy Dave. Remember that God sees everything and mashing new potatoes may deny you entry through the pearly gates when you shuffle off your mortal coil.
ReplyDeleteOnly us could be getting tired of new potatoes every day YP.
