Tesco Shopping For Bottled Beers And Tins of Ravioli.

Tropical Shore Juicy IPA, a tin of Ravioli and a bottle of Czech beer:  IBU.

Yes it's by hissy fit blog. rant again.

Since Brexshit you can not or rarely  can purchase English beers here in Ireland.  You can buy beer from all over Europe but no English beer like my beloved Newky Brown Ale.

We had a run over to Killarney and carried out some retail therapy and I tried two bottle beers.

The Irish IPA was not very nice at all even though it was 6 percent.  The Czech pils was 5 percent and much much.

We also bought two tins of Ravioli for our tea.  We can't buy this in West Cork.

I can't wait for my roughing it prog festival  trip in Cornwall in late summer.

Oh what English beers will I drink and eat great regional food like Cornish pasties.

  1. Come over here! IOM was never a member of the EU so we don't miss it. We get the same weather as you plus lots of UK stuff 😉😊
Enjoy your UK trip - it may be quite warm over there!!!

  2. I had to look up IPA and IBU. They both sound exotic.

    1. I think the Czechs and English brew the best beers in the world Linda.

  3. The IOM sounds like it's got a lot of English stuff JayCee. I'm not going until late September. I am treating myself to an Aer Lingus flight instead of my regular Ryan Air cattle class flights. I can't wait.

    2. Sharpe's Doombar is a Cornish brew JayCee. You can't beat Wetherspoons.

    3. Doombar was one of our brews of choice.

    4. When you are over try some of the offerings from Devon's Otter Brewery. (If near Gosport the Powder Monkey is also a good boutique brewery to visit).

    5. Wet is excellent for real ales, good cheap food and ciders and they let me charge my phone when I am camping.

    6. Wetherspoons not wet autocorrect.

  6. I don't drink any beers, i prefer a good cider, at the moment we are drinking Thatchers blood orange cider in shandy with a fruit sparkling mineral water, refreshing in this heat.

  7. We tried GZ. Bus we weren't keen on the sauce. Heinz are hard to beat.

  8. I love the West Country for its ciders, beers and food Marlene. I remember going to Glastonbury festival in1989 and buying a gallon plastic container of scrumpy complete with chunks of wood floating in it. Happy days!😎

    1. We often as teenagers got a gallon of scrumpy, built a bonfire on the beach, and had a great time. Jacket potatoes and sausages cooked in the fire, lied to parents as to where we were.

  9. I hope you have better luck with your poor feet than you did last year. Those blisters did not sound like a good time.

    1. I don't walk so far these days Debby. Six weeks hobbling around taught me a lot. I do love real ales and live music so much.

  10. It’s strange when you can buy products from all around the world here, you can’t get beer from the uk.
No matter how you plan to get there. Take something big to be able to bring produce home.
I wonder if you can order them online?

  11. Thanks Angela. Brexit had a big impact on our retail shopping. Argos, Debenham, Iceland stores leaving here es of es of and few English food and drink products are just a few examples of the disastrous decision to leave the EU.

  12. I do like an IPA. I thing Wingman was my favorite when we left. I'm looking for some decent IPA here but usually resort to good old Speights (brown ale).

  13. Have you ever made home brew TM? We tried few times. In fairness ours was superior to some of the craft beers on sale here.

    1. My Dad used to have a very sophisticated home brewery (these days it would be called a micro-brewery and the owner would open a tavern) and then discovered he was allergic to the yeast he preferred to use so stopped doing it. I've got a brew vat and might try our own when we are all set up here again.

    2. It sounds great. I need to start home brewing again. I am tired of drinking Carlsberg and Guinness.
