I had got a text message from one of my neighbours when I was working in the veg plot.
He had left me a wheelbarrow full of apples that he had collected from his orchard and I could give them to our livestock
The pygmy goats π loved their π π.
Wheelbarrow of windfall apples.
It's been a great year for fruit, vegetables and πflowers.
It has been a good year, I sent a booted cauliflower to my neighbours 3 chickens, its great when nothing is wasted.
ReplyDeleteYes it's been wonderful Marlene. The great self sufficiency guru and Author John Seymour said that the dustbin man should never need to visit the smallholding. That was back in the nineteen sixties when most things were organic. We often clear the dregs out of food jars and put them in the pig bucket. They turn it into food for themselves and fym for the veg plot.
ReplyDeleteLucky piggies! Those apples look a real treat. Nice neighbour!
ReplyDeleteVery lucky Linda. They all tucked in and enjoyed their apple feast. It was goodcof him to go to the trouble of collecting them and raking them up and placing them in the wheelbarrow. Another neighbour leaves us a bag of vegetables peelings under a big plant pot on their garden wall.
ReplyDeleteWere you not tempted to eat some yourselves? I love apples π
ReplyDeleteNo JayCee. I suggested cider or apple juice to the owner of the apple trees. Maybe next year.
