One of my highlights of this year was flying from Kerry to Germany to spend a few days at the legendary Night Of The Prog festival at Loreley next to the river Rhine. Its a beautiful place and I never really thought I would be going to a Rock festival when I was in my fifties.
The big disappointment of the Summer was my favourite Rock band Kansas cancelling their European tour which included Poznan (I had a ticket) in Poland and the Night Of The Prog. So to make up for this my mate and myself decided to go on a once in a life time, strike it off the bucket list and get ourselves over to Germany and sup some mighty fine German beer and watch some great bands.
One of the highlights (I will show you some more) of the festival was Franck Carducci's Band. They are from France and play music to make you smile and wish you were around when all the psychedelic rock groups were strutting their experimental stuff way back in the early nineteen seventies.
Any way the Franck Carducci Band have written and penned a song about Alice the girl who fell down that rabbit hole and met the Mad Hatter (not Mr Carducci, he wears a big hat) and she had an eerie dream.
Many thanks for the people who film these concerts and put them on You Tube for everybody to enjoy. I was there.

Forgot to say. In the introduction to this song. Mr Carducci tells us that the Wicked Witch made Alice into A Parisian prostitute. Well it made me laugh anyway! At least it was only a dream.
ReplyDeleteWell, done Dave for attending a beer fest!
ReplyDeleteI notice you omitted to say how many litres you guzzled down :-)
But perhaps you can't remember ???
Hi Heron. Its not a beer festival its a Progressive Rock Music Festival. The Loreley ampitheatre was built by the Nazis and its a beautiful setting next to the river Rhine. Don't know exactly how many pints (I don't do Litres) I guzzled but they make some wonderful beer in Germany. Do you like Prog Rock?
DeleteThe seventies were a very busy and energetic time for me Dave. For it found me working all hours of the day and night both in the home stretched over my desk doing calculus or employed in the office at work. I only managed to attend one music bash in all of those years.
DeleteWere you wearing your We're Only Here for the Beer! Tshirts I wonder?
ReplyDeleteOnly here for ze beer Gwil! You are lucky where you live Gwil. You are surrounded with great beers like Dunkel in Austria and Germany and Bernard in Bratizlavia. All we have is commercial stuff like Heineken and stout. Have you been to Loreley Gwil?
Delete'Prog rock will never die'....this is what my husband says now and again.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more Libby. My favourite television channel is the Vintage channel. Does your husband like Big Big Train? They are an English Prog band and they are playing Loreley next July. The FCB video is only a short thirteen minute track. The best English Prog band concert I ever saw was Emerson Lake and Palmer at Manchester Apollo. Thanks for your comment Libby.
DeleteI liked the Franck Carducci band Dave, great track. The venue by the Rhine sounds great too and a beer festival to boot with bands. Good that you made the effort and went and had some enjoyment this summer after the Portugal disappointment.
ReplyDeleteI thought you would like the FCB Rachel. It was a three day Prog Rock festival in an idyllic setting next to the Rhine and yes it did make up for the Portugal house disappointment. We still plan to live there one day. Thanks!
