I propagate african violets using the glass of water method. I just gently pull off a couple of healthy looking leaves from the parent plant then suspend them in water in a glass (I used to put cling film over the top of the glass and then make a hole in the top to poke the leaf stem through. Not sure what to use now that clingfilm is a no-no in our house now.

Thanks Briony. I miss my allotments in England. There's some great camaraderie and Mickey taking and useful advice all thrown in. I have not had a lot of success selling my perennials on carboot sales. Perhaps I should grow more shrubs? Perennials and cottage gardens seem no longer to be in vogue. I suppose it's because they are so labour intensive and won't or can't look after themselves. But I love them. I also grow less vegetables these days because Lidl moved to town and we can buy organic veg for forty Cents. I will still grow them but not on a big scale. You can't beat the freshness of homegrown fruit and vegetables.
