The new BBC series of Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing is back on Sunday nights.
Oh how I wish I had a pal like those two. They are so funny and yet so philosophical. It takes me back to my old Coarse fishing days and me and my mates would go fishing on a mill lodge and fill our keep nets with cold cans or bottles of Northern English bitter. Happy days and lots of laughs and a meditation on nature.
Any road Bob Mortimer made corned beef pie on Sunday night. So yesterday we made it with corned beef, onions, potatoes and peas:
It was very filling and there was even some left for Rosie's the Golden Retriever's breakfast today. It was pure stodge and a very cheap tea. Like something my dear old mum would make on a Monday night.
We are on beef curry tonight. What are you having for your tea?

Not had corned beef for years - I love it. Home made chilli tonight!

DeleteHi the veg artist. It's always worth having a tin or three of it in the cupboard. We often make corn beef toasties and cheese and onion toasties. They charge six Euros for one in the pubs over here. I have heard you can get tins of corned lamb in New Zealand. Chilli sounds good. Do you make it really hot? I love hot and spicy curries and chilli.🌶
ReplyDeleteGrilled Lidl "Supreme burgers" with fried onions, pasta with a carbonara sauce and broccoli followed by plum crumble and cream. By the way your corned beef pie looks splendid! Full marks to Mrs Northsider. I can see why you married her now...But why did she marry you? Should have gone to Specsavers!
ReplyDeleteVery posh YP. She married me for my sense of humour and I rescue and remove spiders, dead rats and my love of Prog Rock bands like Kansas. I jest about her liking the Prog bands.
ReplyDeleteOne has never been so insulted in one's life you cad! It's just not cricket to call a chap posh because he had broccoli for tea. Ruddy bounder!
Delete😃👍.
Delete'Hapless Bob' always makes me laugh. Your pie looks very tasty Dave.
ReplyDeleteHi Deb. Bob is a star and comic genius. Paul is a very gifted fisherman and very funny too. I joined in when they sang Teenage Kicks with Feargal Sharkey on Sunday. Another keen fisherman and hero from my youth. The pie was very very filling. We should cater for armies. Good to hear from you Deb. I still miss your blog posts.
ReplyDeleteCorned beef pie. Now that's something you wouldn't find here. Unfortunately it's still too hot for stodge. Boiled eggs and tomatoes was our tea. We are having a damn heat wave.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. You can't beat a plate of stodge after a day working outside. It's raining here today just for a change.😊
