I never find a tin full of Sovereigns or other hidden treasure.
Don't worry the wall stone is going to be used for the construction of other walls.
No not Rusty Donkey is not the name of a "Diddly Dee" Ceilidh band. But it could be.
I found this the other day when I was dismantling an old outhouse building wall.
Me thinks it's a donkey 👞. I could be wrong. Could it be for a pony or even a ox?
Answers on a postcard or even in the comments section below please dear readers.
I have brought it in the house and it now resides on our mantlepiece along with our collected treasures.. I hope it brings us some good luck.
Here's a tune to tap your feet to:
Probably from a wonky donkey, I would keep it as well, it's lovely.
ReplyDeleteProbably Marlene.😊 My dad had a donkey when he was a boy. I wonder if the shoe belonged to his donkey? I hope it brings us some luck finding it again?
ReplyDeleteA donkey shoe? Found on Palm Sunday?
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, that is a lovely find.
I never thought of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey JayCee. It was close but not on Palm Sunday. I never found it's jacket though. I bought the wife one for Christmas. She asked for a fur coat. So I bought her a donkey jacket. It is a lovely find and a blast from the past.
ReplyDeleteWhatever it belonged to, I hope it brings you good luck.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jules. Could do with some good luck. Couldn't we all? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNot an ox...oxen had split shoes for cloven hooves
ReplyDeleteYe you are right GZ. Rather like the Devil in the lucky horse shoe video. The pony or donkey must have been shoed to go on the road.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you're displaying it open side up...else all your luck will spill out!
ReplyDeleteI think that is a very neat find, and something to think that it could have been lost by your father's childhood donkey.
Yes it mentions the good luck in the video Debby. Brides are often given lucky silver horseshoe at their weddings. I never use to believe in luck but I do now.
DeleteIn County Clare they used to put old donkey shoes in walls to ward off evil spirits. And there was a rhyme...
ReplyDeleteRemove this shoe from the wall of stone
And within a week you'll break a bone.
Thanks for that YP. I will remember the poem.
ReplyDeleteI wonder which bone you will break? After all there are 206 bones to choose from.
DeleteI broke my thumb once on a artificial ski slope in Rossendale.

ReplyDeleteOkay! I heard you the first time!
ReplyDeleteI repeat myself when I am stressed.😀
ReplyDeleteI would be stressed too if I knew I would soon break a bone!
DeleteI hope it doesn't come true.
