Lost In Translation In Dingle.

"Scuse me love.  Can I have two francobollo please?"

Stamps for sale sign.

Do people buy and write postcards and put stamps on them?

I find it easier to  take a photo on WhatsApp or my mobile phone and email it or post it on my blog.

Old Robert Zimmerman was right when he sang:  "The times are a-changing".

  1. I can't remember the last time I sent a postcard. The cost of postage has changed our habits. You can instantly send a photo and a message free over WiFi and it doesn't get lost in the post!

  2. I can't either JayCee. I still see postcards for sale here in Ireland. Somebody must be still buying and sending them. Number 2 son
i bought a instax camera which creates physical photos like the Polaroids use to. Remember when you use to take your negatives to Boots and you would come back a few days later and half of them were blurred or you had left your thumb on them? A fate worst than death was when someone got their holiday snaps out: " This is the lady who sat at the dining table in the b and b..'

  3. I was surprised to see postcards on sale everywhere we visited. I almost bought some but had no one to send them too. Everyone has a phone with camera in hand now.

  4. It's true Linda. We have no-one to send them to. I show people my mobile phone photos. It's a lot easier than trying to think what to write on the back of a postcard.

  5. You saw my equivalent to postcards on my last 3 blog post, or my Instagram page, everyone has the choice to look or not. Stamps prices are outrageous, we received so few Christmas cards last year, which is a shame.

  6. Our blogs are like postcards of the places we have visited and where we live Marlene. We only got an hand full of Christmas cards last year. Even neighbours don't send them these days.

  7. Even though I blogged everyday sharing photos of my holiday, I did send the granddaughters postcards. They were very excited to receive real mail.

  8. I sometimes see postcards displayed in the old way and I also wonder who the hell buys them or sends them. It used to be such a big industry and most people who went on holiday sent postcards home to their loved ones.

  9. Someone must buy the postcards. I don't know who. I often admire the quality of the photos.
