Rosie having a 'nice'cup of tea.
Rosie is the mother of Bronte my faithful Golden Retriever and walking repurposed railway lines pal.
I have been mad busy working this week and have not had much time to blog. I hope the photo makes you smile?
I have never been much of a tea drinker. I prefer 'real' coffee ☕️ in a cafetiere first thing in the morning.
When I lived in the north West of England we would go to Levenshulme in Manchester to a Irish grocers and bring home Barry's tea from Cork and red lemonade.
I remember my holidays here in Ireland and my dad and my my brother and me would try to pike hay on to the cart and chase rabbits and my grandma and my mother would come down the fields with currant cake and bottles of cold tea in a sock. It was great for quenching your thirst.
I still prefer coffee than tea.
I like both...but strong, not weak. I drink coffee during the morning then tea after that. Slightly less caffeine to help me sleep better!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a real coffee drinker JayCee. I can not function without a cup of black coffee first thing in the morning with two sugars for energy.
ReplyDeleteA tisane first thing for me, with the porridge..but midmorning proper coffee....and black...no milk or sugar needed!! I've really gone off tea in the past few years. I used to drink Lapsang Souchong and Earl Grey.
ReplyDeleteHerbal teas like Valerian tea bags are ok GZ. I sometimes make nettle and lemon balm teas. I rarely drink milk these days. It never seems to stay fresh in the fridge once it's open. I often wonder how old it is.
ReplyDeleteI'm a coffee drinker, I don't drink any milk, so black coffee is better, and always filtered. When we were kids in Somerset we always took jam sandwiches and squash for our lunch when watching the harvest being sorted. They used to cut and tie or make small bales.
ReplyDeleteIt was loose hay piked on a cart when I came to Ireland on my holidays Marlene. I went collecting small bales of hay a few weeks ago and featured it on here. Great memories. Thanks.
DeleteCold tea in a sock sounds like a very Irish thing. Citizens of other lands would put the tea in a flask or bottle to prevent leakage.
ReplyDeleteNormally a stout or pop bottle in a sock YP. Incredibly thirst quenching. I once went in a restaurant and they served soup in a basket😀.
ReplyDeleteA hot filter coffee with cream in the winter, iced espresso in the summer. Real coffee has so much more flavour than instant.
ReplyDeleteAnd Iced tea all day long just now. Made in a litre jug in the morning. Only iced. Just because I don't like plain water
You know your refreshments Linda. I can't stand instant coffee and I am not keen on tea. Barry's tea made in Cork is a very good tea.
ReplyDeleteGosh Levenshulme - i used to live on Slade Lane!
ReplyDeleteHi Christine. We lived in Lancashire (Greater Manchester) Alderley Edge and Chester. I even had an allotment in north Wales. Levenshulme was full of Irish businesses and great antique stores. Happy days. We have been in Ireland nearly 25 years. Small world.
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat a proper cup of fresh coffee, first thing in the morning.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree Jules. I don't function without my real coffee.
DeleteI love tea but it doesn't love me so its Rooibos for me first thing with the porridge and then a pot of black coffee over the course of the morning. After midday no caffeine so I switch to 'erbals. Like you - no milk
ReplyDeleteI must try Rooibos TM. I havdrank milk in my coffee for years.
DeleteI too prefer coffee. But when I’m not feeling well, or I’m down that black hole I have a milky sweet tea. That’s what my grandmother used to make for me. It’s like she’s still here to give me comfort.
ReplyDeleteComfort tea. I like that Angela. Toast always makes me feel better.
ReplyDeleteI like my morning coffee.
ReplyDelete"One More Coffee For The Road". Yep Debby👍.
