Yep another gardening post folks.
It's been Scorchio in Portugal my polytunnel and getting far too hot for cuttings. So I brought my shade garden back into action:
Remember when I made all those Sedum cuttings about three weeks ago? Well I spent four hours on Monday potting the rooted ones up in to individual plant pots.
I placed them on tiles under the Griselina (New Zealand Privet) . I water them every day and they are doing fine.
Anybody else have a shade garden?

DeleteI grow hostas and ferns in my shady area . It's under the apple trees facing north and also shaded by a large laurel bush. There's also a statue of The Lord Buddha there. He's made from thick fibreglass as all gods are. In fact I think The Pope is made from fibreglass too.
ReplyDeleteSlugs love Hostas YP. Most of our gardens face North. That's why my blog is called Northsider. We have a plastic sheep statue and a Greek lady. Probably a Nymph or maybe a Nymphomaniac😊.
ReplyDeleteWe do have some parts of the garden in shade, yes. One of our successes has been a hellebore bed - one plant we received as a gift, 6 plants in a tray from Homebase. They absolutely love it there, and have masses of flowers each year - although the colours have blended a bit, all on the pink/purple spectrum. We are thinking of expanding it, as they need thinning, and we can get some more as well!

ReplyDeleteI have a North facing border mainly of shrubs but an elder tree grows well there and some ferns have started to self seed. I still need to work on it and decide what I want to grow there. Your little cuttings are doing really well.
