Mount Ephraim Gardens And Round About.

We pitched our tents at Mount Ephraim Gardens near Faversham on the Thursday the day before A New Day Festival began on the Friday.  We were allowed to camp there for four nights.  It's a beautiful setting and here's some photos:

Oast house and orchards.  Next to where we stayed in the heart of The Garden Of England. The Oast houses had kilns to dry the hops which was used to make beer.

We followed a few dog walkers along a dirt track to this village.  There was an off licence and grocers and stocked up on a pork pie and some bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale and Doombar.  They check your bags at the music festival concert area.  So we drank them at the campsite between bands sets.

Former gunpowder mills.  The gunpowder was use to fight Napoleon and for breaking rock during the construction of England's canals and railways.

Good old Newcastle Brown Ale.  I am missing it already.  There was also a Wetherspoon's in Faversham.  I sampled a pint of Wainwrights Gold there. It reminded us of a IPA kind of bitter.   It's very difficult to source bitter over here now because of Brexit.   I will post some photos of the festival next.  Getting near the end of my trip around Dingle, Oxfordshire, Sussex and Kent.

On The Bus To Broadstairs.

Going past Manston Airport.  It's a former Spitfire base and there was talk of it opening up again as an airport with flights to Cork.....

 We decided to go on another trip to the seaside and bought an all day explorer bus ticket.  I think it was seven Pounds seventy.  You can get on and off the buses and use it all day.  It reminded me of an old friend in Lancashire who we told him on a Sunday to ask the driver for a Sunday bulldog.  It was really called a Sunday Rover.  The bus driver asked him if he was taking the Michael?

We caught the Broadstairs bus at Canterbury bus station and it took us to Broadstairs going through lots of villages and Ramsgate. 

Broadstairs was very busy and seemed full of London day trippers going off their accents and sayings:

"Alright babe?"

A Day Trip To Rye And Mermaid Street.

Continuing with recent trip to Blighty and taking in two Rock music festivals:

 We arrived in Canterbury on the Monday and stayed at a campsite until the next festival started on the Thursday.  We had heard rumours of train strikes and decided to base ourselves in Canterbury.

I spent a week there in 2019 when we visited A New Day Festival.  We decided to leave the rucksacks at the campsite that didn't accept CASH and explored parts of Kent and one day we caught the train to Rye in Sussex via Ashford.  I had never visited Sussex before.

I walked into a pie shop and noticed they wanted four pounds sixty for a pasty.  I refrained from buying one and purchased one in Gregg's back in Canterbury for one pounds eighty.  Another day out tomorrow.
