Yoghert For Dogs!

A photo took in Petmania in Tralee a week or so.

Yog-hert is the way yoghurt is pronounced in Ireland.

We were looking for dog treats to reward Heidi for bringing 3 fat puppies into the world.

They are doing fine and they are squeaking away like newborn human babies.

I was amazed to see a fridge freezer full of "dog" yoghurt!

Stop the world 🌎 I want to get off.  I think it was 8 Euros sixty for a tub.

Sorry girls but we didn't purchase.

    1. I have sampled dog biscuits GZ. Perhaps I should try dog ice cream or yoghurt?

  4. I thought that yoghurt was something that happens when you accidentally bump your yog.

  5. It's the same for cats, so many different products, which are good for them or a treat, we pass them by, as most will only help make them fat, always get good food for them.

  7. You can make your own yoghurt for Heidi. Do you have a thermos jug. That is all you need! I make my own yoghurt every week. I have a yogurt maker I got from e-bay for a pittance, and it works great. I have yogurt and blueberries every morning.

    1. Put your milk in a pan, heat to 185F (85C) and then let it cool. When it cools down to 120F (49C) , mix your last jar of yogurt in to the mix. Whisk to mix. You can pour the warm milk into a thermos jug, cap tightly, let it sit over night (always a good idea to pour boiling water into the thermos to make sure it is sterile). In the morning, you'll find yogurt. In my case, I have 7 glass jars to fill. Sit inside the yogurt maker, cover and turn on. Come back 8 hours later. Since I can't have sugar or honey any more, I have it plain with blueberries and flax seed. It's good. Heidi would probably love it mixed with cooked pumpkin.

    2. PS: Don't buy a yogurt maker new. It does not make sense to. People seem to get them with all good intentions and then never get use them. I've bought two of them for no more than $5 each.

    3. Thanks Debby. You know how to make yoghurt. We once made soft cheese.

    4. We use the dehydrator set on a low temperature for yoghurt. The dehydrator also works for proving bread dough (and of course dries fruit and fish and meat - so a useful bit of kit)

    5. How excellent! I don't have a hydrator, but I love multipurpose appliances.

  9. Im sure Heidi loves the food she gets and doesn't miss that yoghurt. Too bad if you bought some for a pampered pet and they turned their nose up at it.
