Flowers In Killarney.

I always like seeing flowers in town centres.  Particularly shops that pay for floral decorations and patiently water and feed the flowers all summer.

Here are some of the floral delights we saw in Killarney town centre on Saturday:

Flowers over in the windows over the shops.
A nice floral display for a local bar.
Geraniums floral displays.
Hydrangeas next to the Pelican crossing.

Well done Killarney for your floral efforts.  Does your town or village or city put on a floral effort?

  1. With Sheffield being a big city - 570,000 - there are floral displays hither and thither and equally there are areas that seem devoid of flowers. Hard to generalise Dave.

  2. Killarney is the most visited town in Ireland YP and they always make the effort to put on floral displays. Not bad for a population of 14000.

  3. We have more trees in our village, there is a nice set of flower beds by our library, care for by different organisations, a few shops have flower tubs by their doors. It foes make a huge difference, especially as so many front gardens are now parking space without any plants.

  5. Have you ever travelled in France and noticed the town name signs have their flower status on them (like hotel stars they get flowers - 3 flower towns are spectacular at this time of year. Maybe Killarney could apply to join their rating system.

  6. Our town does quite a bit, flower-wise. The master gardener program does a lot of planting. I know a flower shop owner who used to come out and sprinkle petals in front of his store in the evenings. A nice touch.

  7. We don’t do flowers. It’s always so hot in the summer you would need to water them three or four times a day
They do look lovely and we admired them all over the uk

  9. Hi Angela. Flowers brighten up the dullest of places. Even in winter there are bedding displays. In County Kerry they even landscape the roundabouts.

  10. Our council plants flowers when there's some big event or a VIP is expected. They don't survive very long. Your tons display is lovely. Lifts the spirits.

  11. So very true Linda. Floral displays lift the spirit. Much better than looking at drab concrete.
