Peg Stop.

I have heard of a Pit stop  but never a Peg stop.

There we were driving back to West Cork yesterday and the wife said:

" We'll  have to stop soon.  There's a  post office shop round here and I want to get something we need."

We were on a country road in the middle of nowhere and the car stopped.  My wife got out and went inside and came back with two plastic bags of PEGS!

" They're the ones that don't have springs and don't break".

" Oh I says".

Anything for a quiet life.  It could have been worse like Hoover bags!

  1. Were you planning to get your missus some new pegs for her birthday? Back to the drawing board now. How about some nice yellow Marigolds and a can of "Mr Muscle" oven cleaner?

  2. I won't be buying her a new Hoover that's for sure. I think I will get her a T shirt with "No Rust Stains" printed on it. Thanks!

  3. Oh yes. I completely understand. Where's the shop exactly? I may have to come and shop there too.
May your Missus have many happy hours hanging out the washing

  4. Hi Linda. I am glad you understand. Apparently there's no springs to go rusty. It's a post office in the middle of the countryside that sells logs, newspapers and groceries.. They don't sell beer though. I will pass on your well wishes for many happy hours pegging out the washing.😊

  5. No good for me - it hasn't stopped raining long enough for me to get my washing out on the line!

  6. I know JayCee. Every season in an hour. Do you remember those ceiling airers over the fire that you raised and lowered with a rope and pulley system? Happy days.😀

    1. I wouldn't like to see Lord Peregrine's old Y fronts waving in the wind but JayCee's frilly bloomers would be fine.

  7. I remember an old woman coming around the countryside, with pegs and 'lucky' heather. Everyone was so petrified of her that she sold something everywhere. We kids used to run and hide!

  8. People were always superstitious of such people and believed that she could put a curse on their household if they didn't buy something. Great memories the veg artist.
