Wally The Walrus Hijacks A Boat In West Cork.

West Cork attracts a lot of visitors some rich and some famous.  This week a Walrus decided he didn't want a staycation in his own country near the North Pole.

Wally decided to swim to Clonakilty and go shopping for Barry's tea and Clonakilty Pudding, West Cork whiskey and erm, hijack a boat!

"Leave the car at home or catch a bus, but don't hijack the boat like a Walrus!"

  1. Perhaps he'll begin a business selling leisure trips around the bay but he will need a peaked captain's hat with an embroidered anchor on the brim. And Captain Wally will have to learn all the history spiel to keep the tourists happy. He might play "Tusk" by Fleetwood Mac over the loudspeakers when returning to the mooring.

  2. Or maybe a sea shanty or two and tell his tales about Iceland and Asda. Dingle was famous for Fungi now West Cork's got Wally the Walrus from Greenland.

    1. Are you sure it's a real walrus and not you dressed up in a walrus suit?

  3. I saw Wally the walrus in tenby pembrokeshire a few weeks ago before he went to cornwall and France. Now he's back in Ireland enjoying the craic. I hope he stays for a while, he's great for the tourists.

  4. Hi Rosie. Thanks for the Wally update. Perhaps he's hijacking the ferries from Cork to Roscoff and Fishguard to Rosslare? He's great for the tourists and makes you in awe of the ocean and it's creatures. Thanks!

  5. That's funny. Reminds me of another walrus who went on a rampage in a seaside town in NZ and started attacking cars.
This one looks quieter. Just waiting for the captain to take him on a tour

  10. Hi Debby. West Cork could do with some more tourist attractions. I hope they make Wally an honorary citizen and give him his own pontoon.
