Dining Time For The Cat And The Dog.

Keen eyed viewers will have noticed this picture on Tuesdays post.

It's a photo we took last year or so and it's been put on a tile and hangs on the wall in the kitchen/dining room.

I think I have posted it before? I took the photo because we thought it remarkable that a dog and a cat could eat their tea together without any hissing, spitting or scratching.

I have just remembered the picture I posted before was my loyal tripehoud and Jack Russell Fido who went to doggy heaven a few years ago.  We still talk about her and our beloved departed pets every day.  Seriously, every day.

Have a good weekend.

  1. Near us when I was little lived a cat next door to a dog who would sleep quite happily together, sometimes the cat on top of the dog. But if, as children might, you suddenly went "ssssssss sssssss ssssssss" and stamped your foot the dog would chase the cat away quite aggressively.

    1. Yes Tasker its a bit like that with these two. Domino hisses and spits and scratches when he doesnt want to play.

  2. A dog and a cat dining harmoniously? Clearly their behaviour is modelled on their observations of your good self and The Duchess (Mrs Northsider) eating together.

    1. They have better table manners and etiquette than me. The Duchess eats like a lady.

    3. Why are you supposed to? She drinks wine like a kitten sipping. I drink it like it's pop or a pint of beer.😊

  7. My little whippet, Oscar, is the best (and closest) dog I've ever had - I would be devastated to lose him and will be when the time comes... a long while yet through!
He would share his bowl to, for he never growls or spits - it's a whippet thing I think.

  8. Oscar sounds a character Mark. I could write a book the animals and especially dogs who have shared their lives with us. In recent years we have started to get a pup before our canine friend passes on. It makes the inevitable pet bereavement so much easier.

  9. Nice to see your animals sharing their meal. Not all dogs chase cats and vice versa. At the moment I'd like a dog to chase off our wild cats. They're getting very aggressive.

  10. Hi Linda. Cats and dogs can accept each other but they also can annoy each other. Feral cats can be very aggressive.
