Domino Makes A Shoe Box ' Day' Bed.

To paraphrase Paul Young: "Where ever I lay my box that's my home".

Domino doesn't really like the Christmas hustle and bustle and he preferred to make a 'day' bed out of a box what some boots came in.

Kitty Tiger likes to jump in a Carlsberg or Heineken lager box for a siesta.

When the kids were young they would discard their new presents/toys/plastic junk and sit in the big cardboard boxes that they came in.

What is it about cardboard boxes 📦 and children and our four legged friends at Christmas?  Well even BOXING day?

They call it Stephen's day in Hibernia.  In England it was common for Gentry to make up boxes of their unwanted prezzies and distribute or give to their servants.  "Anyone want a Pot Rice or a chocolate orange 🍊?"

  1. I bought myself a new pair of boots a few weeks ago and Thomas made the box his bed. He then suddenly wouldn't get in it and so eventually I put it out for recycling last week. Animals are strange in their behaviour. I would like another box for him but boxes are few and far between these days, and not around much in supermarkets except ones that had wine bottles in and they are the wrong shape for cat beds. Have a good Boxing Day Dave.

  2. Shoe shops will give you shoe boxes Rachel. Last year on here I featured a Christmas presents cardboard box for sale in Dealz/Poundland for 5 Euros. Hope you have a great boxing day and all our football teams give us some good results to celebrate.

  4. Your comment to Rachel gave me a shock. I remember that last post about the cardboard boxes for sale for $5. I've been following along on your adventures for over a year now! Our feral cat has begun sleeping in his bed. It is tucked away in a corner by the Hoosie. It is a slatted crate, and he peers warily through the slats, keeping his eye on us. God help us if we make a noise. I dropped a broom and did not see him for two days. We drop small treats in front of him on his bed, and give him a little pat and leave him be. I don't ever think he will be a Domino or a Tiger.

  5. Hi Debby. There's money to be made out of a necessity and necessity is the mother of invention. Feral cat sounds like a Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Western character. He's neither good, bad or ugly. He's one cool cat.

  6. I hear all the time of cats in boxes, yet any cat I've ever owned has never liked sitting or sleeping in boxes. My kids loved them, when we moved house one year the large packing boxes were opened at both ends and laid across the new yard like a giant tunnel, the baby spent hours crawling through it every day.

  7. Yes River. Cats and kids love cardboard boxes. They also make a good weed suppressant in the veg plot if you take off any tape and lie them flat over any vegetation and cover the cardboard in grass clippings, manure or compost. I think it's called Lasagna Gardening in America.

  8. Outdoor Sports Equipment? I guess you could use a cat for sweeping a curling rink or if the kitman forgot the rugby ball, the cat would do. Here kitty-kitty, I'm going to boot you between the sticks! There used to be a player called Mike Catt.

  10. There's another word for cat beginning with "p" but I cannot think of it. Any ideas?
