Early Christmas Presents For Yours Truly.

We went shopping in Kerry the other day and I saw those two beauties looking at me from an off licence shelf.  To my amazement there was four bottles of Newcastle Brown and two bottles of Theaktons Old Peculier.   I was an happy bunny.

The shop proprietor told us that they come down from the North.   It is strange the little things you take for granted and you miss when you move to another country.

Prog and Heavy Rock concerts are another joy of mine but I rarely see in rural Ireland.  It's a trip to Dublin or Cork if you want to see anything like that.

It's so nice to be able to drink your favourite drinks at this time of year.

Cheers.

  1. I once knew a girl called Kerry but I never shopped in her. You should have asked the off-licence proprietor to gift wrap those bottles for you Dave. Well spotted!

    1. They went down the hatch last night YP. Very very nice. Oh to live near Morrison's or an Asda. You can't beat some good old Northern English bitter can you? Back to being a lager lout for my Christmas.

    2. I went in a truly amazing off-licence on Monday. I had never been in there before. It was like an Aladdin's cave for drinkers Mitchells at Meadowhead. Go here:- https://www.mitchellswine.co.uk/

  3. I got a bottle of Dalwhinnie for my birthday the other week Linda. Hopefully any one on Poros reading your blog or comments will know what to get you for Christmas. Anybody stuck with no idea to get someone for Christmas we have the perfect wine, beer and whisky suggestions. It's a lot better than a book on Archaeology or a jumper that's going to sag after it's been washed.

  4. Well done that man!
We have just bought a few bottles of Shepherd Neame Christmas Ale for our friends as they have invited us to Christmas dinner with them. Plus a bottle or two of wine. They are supplying the gin, sherry and port. Should be an interesting walk back home afterwards!

  5. Thanks JayCee. I walked past the Shepherd Neame visitor centre/brewery pub in Faversham in Kent in August. It sounds like your going to have a very Merry Christmas dinner and saunter back to JayCee Towers. Are there any breweries on the IOM?

    1. Yes there are three or four local breweries as far as I know...

Plus a gin distillery. We shall be self sufficient in the essentials if the UK supply chain breaks down!

  6. You will have to do a blog write up about them JayCee. The are Irish craft breweries over here. Thanks for replying.

  9. We always have a few bottles of beer including Newcastle Brown in the larder - husband's treat when he has spent two hours mowing the lawn. Years ago as a student he was a CAMRA member, and he likes to support craft breweries.

    1. Lucky you to be able to purchase the bottles the veg artist. I use to go to real ale beer festivals many moons ago. Great occasions with bands, beer and hot food.
