These Boots Were Not Made For Hiking In.

It wasn't raining for a change the other day. So I decided to blow away the cobwebs and go for a saunter over the hills and not so faraway. Six miles is no problem for me. I'm 59 this week and determined to keep active. Half way through my walk I looked down at my feet. My boots felt very heavy. I had only put my steel toe capped work boots on instead of my hiking boots. Perhaps I should change my blog name to Mr Magoo?

  1. Oh dear. Looks like your "senior moments" episodes are starting early!

  2. I would say so JayCee. It must with me living in the countryside next to the sea. I am going Sealion. YP, Rachel and myself have both wrote about the ageing process on our blogs today. I must learn to pay attention to what I am doing instead of having my Walter Mitty / Billy Liar day dream moments all the time. Thanks!

  3. Oh dear. The steel also transmits the cold directly to your toes. The second half of that walk was quite miserable, wasn't it?

  4. It does Debby. I laughed and listened to Rock bands on Spotify. Michael Schenker back in his UFO days was playing.

  7. Habit you see - put on the last pair of boots you took off. So how was the walk? Anything exciting to see?

  8. Yep Tigger. We are creatures of habit. The walk was good but I only saw one passing motorist who waved at me. It was a good walk after all the rain.

  9. Steel toe-capped boots can be very useful if you find yourself in a position where a fight is brewing. I know you get car loads of nuns in south west Ireland and they are always on the look out for bother.

  10. Oh I am so relieved, I thought it was only me… I managed to go running/jogging last winter in my winter boots. Without noticing! They are not similar, not even the same colour as the running shoes! What is wrong, I’m only 54…

  11. That's brilliant. I suppose if they are comfortable nothing else matters. I think Nothing Else Matters is a Metallica song. I have seen them twice, unfortunately. I'm joking. Thanks Onevikinggirl.

  13. I once went to a meeting in two different shoes. I didn't notice until I got there as they were both comfortable. There was nothing I could do about it so just kept quiet and didn't mention it. I decided that if I didn't draw attention to it then perhaps nobody would notice and if they did they would just put it down to eccentricity or something. I think going out in the wrong boots is easily done if you were focussed on the walk more than anything else.

  14. I have worn different socks but never the wrong boots Rachel. My mind was focused on the walk. Thanks.
