Baby Rab Rabs.

Ponies, piglets and now baby rabbits.  Two of the does had young two weeks ago this Thursday.

There are 14 of them in total and we are going to breed the other two does this week.

I knew they were due to give birth because they plucked fur out of their chests and lined the nests that they had made out of hay.

Some people keep rabbits for meat but we will probably sell them for pets.  They sell for between thirty and fifty Euros at the moment.

Anyone else keep rabbits or thinking of getting some?

  1. 14!! Goodness me. You will do well if you can sell them all. Enough for a few trips to the German beer sellers?

  3. We've had 2 rescue rabbit brothers for 6 years. They can't live together as they fight, even though we had both neutered, but they sit side by side in their runs cleaning each other's faces through the bars, which might be a sign they're bonded. Ideally they should both have a wife bunny, but I don't want 4 bunnies. I would say they're not good pets for small children though. We got ours as they were bought as pets for a toddler who obvs lost interest.

  4. Hi Mrs LH. Thanks for that. It's good that you rescued your rabbits. They make good pets and are not expensive to keep like livestock are.

  5. Chez Northsider is a place of fertility and abundance! If a woman has trouble conceiving a child she should try a weekend at your homestead - with her beau of course - and she will "be with child" by Monday morning. If she has no beau, Sons 1 & 2 could offer their kind assistance.

  7. We never kept rabbits but dad did go out with friends occasionally and come home with a rabbit for dinner and years later a stepbrother would take his ferrets rabbit hunting and come back with quite a few each week, Mum would dress them and sell them at the local pub for a few dollars each.

    1. Sorry River been mad busy. Thanks for your comments. Rabbits make good pets and you don't need land to keep them.
