A Super Cover Group Singing The Smiths Songs.

Not had time or inspiration to post a blog this week.  Sorry about that I will try to post more shortly.

I recently heard that Stockport band Blossoms and that lad ("never going to give you up") from Newton Lee Willows, Rick Astley, had teamed up to play some concerts and sing only The Smith's sets.

All too good to be true? Not at all.

I love Morrissey and The Smith's and theyare in my opinion, one of the finest bands to come from the Manchester area.  Not forgetting, Vandergraf Generator (Manchester University) James, Oasis,  10CC and of course Barclay James Harvest......?

Anyway here they are singing one of  The Smiths songs and a favourite of mine: Cemetery Gates.

Have a great weekend.

  1. Although I can't listen to it, the title sounds a little sombre! I shall take your word that it sounds great Dave.
Have a great weekend over there. Hope it's not too stormy for you tomorrow.

  2. I mentioned this song to Rachel on her blog the other evening JayCee. Rachel was discussing how modern day songwriters are poet in their own right. The lyrics to Cemetery Gates are well worth Googling. Morrissey is a very well read and talented songwriter and the cover songs by Blossoms and Rick Astley jog our musical mental jukeboxes.

  3. Dis is Seamus Finnegan wid de six o'clock news here on Cork TV. In Glasgow at the COP26 conference they said "Blah-blah-blah!" and then enjoyed a nice dinner. In London PM Johnson has scrapped the idea of elections so that he can stay in power as long as he likes. Out on The Sheep Shed Peninsula here in County Cork it has just been reported that legendary blogger Dave Northsider has published another blogpost but this needs to be confirmed.

  5. Morrissey lost me when he sang 'I wanted a job and then I got a job and I'm oh so miserable now'.

  6. I know how he felt Tasker. There's nothing worse than doing a job you hate.

  7. I love all those bands you mention Dave. I was a great 10CC fan, saw them at Newcastle City Hall and Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Pattie Boyd guested with them. Thanks for bringing back the memories. I also like The Smiths,
