Cheap Japanese Sausages.

J came home with a pack of Wagyu sausages the other day.  She paid 1.49 for them!  You always find cheap stuff in the reduced items area.

I ate them with some of my hot spicy sauce.

According to Professor Google "Wa" means "Japanese" and  "Gyu means "Cow".

Apparently there are four breeds of Japanese cows.

It was a shame I didn't have my Japanese winter onions to eat with the sausages.

They tasted like beef sausages do.  No different to what we normally eat.  But there was nothing wrong with them.

Have you tried  "Wagyu" sausages or beef?

  1. They look good. Unfortunately I no longer eat sausages, or bacon, so much as I would love to taste those I shall have to miss out. I am glad you enjoyed them - especially at that bargain price!

  2. We often shop and choose our meals according to what the supermarket is selling off JayCee. Plus the veg plot and polytunnel provides us with vegetables most days. We have started buying potatoes again last week. We have been eating our own since the beginning of May.

  3. I bought a small piece of Wagyu steak from M&S a few months ago as I had seen it talked about as being very special beef so thought I would try it. I am afraid I didn't find it any better than fillet steak and it was decidedly inferior to it in fact.

  4. Thanks Rachel. I like Whitehead and Hereford beef. We bought some Dexter in Bantry from a local butcher we know and it was beautiful. Thanks Rachel.

  5. I'm amazed anyone turned wagyu beef into sausages. Do you know that genuine wagyu cattle get beer with their food and regular massages to ensure their fat is marbled through the meat? No wonder it's usually expensive.

  6. I don't eat sausages, I'm not keen on any meat which is minced and then put back into a product, I don't eat ham for the same reason, I know I'm weird. Marlene, Poppypatchwork

  7. Not at all Marlene. I don't eat fish other than Cod in batter from a chip shop.

  8. Decent sausages. Sigh. I'm so envious. The best sausages we can get, I can get, are those German supermarket bratwurst. I don't like Greek sausages..... Or most of them.
Lucky man. And so darn cheap! I always look in the reduced price area but very rarely find a good bargain

  9. I love Bratwurst Linda. We buy them from you know where. It always depends on the day and time when it's best to see what they are selling off.

  10. I did once try some Wagyu beef. It was nice, but no tastier than beef from the village butcher.

  11. "Wagyu Dapper Dogs"? Is that what The Orange Turnip meant when he said of Haitian immigrants living in Springfield, Ohio that they were "eating the dogs"? He referred to their home country as "Haitia" rather than "Haiti"! I have not eaten "Wagyu" sausages or beef as I am not as posh as you Dave!

  13. Lidl did they know we shop there. I am quite impressed with Aldi at the moment. They seem to be going more upmarket and going for quality.
