Singing A Song By One Of The Famous Four.

Who is your favourite Beatle?  No not the lad (Beetle) who lives in your garden and eats the aphids in summer.  I am talking about the most famous group in the world: The Beatles.  Working class lads from Liverpool (and of Irish descent) who rocked the world.

My favourite Beatle is John Lennon.  He even bought an island off Galway in the nineteen sixties for one thousand and seven hundred Pounds.  Anyway I am going to see a new singer soon, who I recently discovered called Father John Misty.  Hes very good and here he is covering a famous John Lennon song.  I don't think he likes Star Wars!  listen to the words!

Do you believe in God? Do you like this version of the John Lennon song?

  1. I like that song, can't say I have ever heard it before. George Harrison was my favourite Beatle with John a close second and in a class of his own. I have never been much of a McCartney fan and nor am I now. It was a tragedy that John's life was taken away from him by a murderer. Do I believe in God? Well I believe in saints and helpers in the world and like the psalms to read like poetry but I am not sure about God.

  2. Great answer Rachel. I have just been listening to the original John Lennon version. He was in a class of his own.

I can't not believe in God. Like he said about death:

"It's just like getting out of one car and getting into another!"

The Beatles stand the test of time. That's why we still play them today. Thanks Rachel.

  3. I haven't heard that song before. I was Beatles fan, couldn't take to Paul though. You are right about Lennon being in a class of his own. Oh, happy days!

  5. Visited my daughter in Liverpool 2 weeks ago. We saw the life size, naturalistic statue of the Fab Four by the dock side. And then we took the ferry on the Mersey (with the Gerry and the Pacemakers tune playing in the background when we set off). We froze. Can’t say I ever had a favourite but my favourite song for a long time was Eleanor Rigby.

  6. Hi Philip. Sounds like a great trip apart from being frozen. I think people will be playing their tracks in fifty years time. Thanks!
