"You've Got A Radio. What Have You Got A Radio For?"

That was number 2 sons reaction to the new 'wireless' the wife bought me the other day.

The new 'wireless'/ transistor radio.

I tried to explain the missus had bought it me to listen to Classic Hits in 'Portugal' my polytunnel. Then he noticed the radio came with an extension lead:

"Where you going to plug that in?"

"The Earth".

I replied.

"Why didn't you listen to music on your mobile phone?"

I must be getting old folks. But what's wrong with a tranny radio/'wireless'/crystal set? I can listen to 80s,90's music. Or 'Dad' and 'Grandad' music. Hope the batteries last? Those battery hens must cost poultry farmers a fortune.

We were that poor when I was little. The woman next door gave birth to me, I had to wait for the rice pudding to be ate before we could listen to the crystal set and my dad use to stick his head out through a cut out cardboard box and say: " This is the News!"

Son Number 2 needs a thick ear. You will get better sound quality from that radio than from a mobile phone. Also, you'll be saving your phone's battery. It was a thoughtful gift from Her Majesty. What are you going to get her?

I like internet radio YP and Spotify is good to listen to when your walking. But yes the transistor radio is good especially in the polytunnel. Especially the old music from my younger days.

My husband has a little transister just like that, well almost. It gets powered up like a phone, doesn't have batteries. He sits outside early in the morning while Im still sleeping and listens to news and music. When the power gooes off it is great, breaks that endless silence. I watch vlogs on youtube but don't listen to music although I do have a list there of my favourites. A tranny is so much more convenient.

I can’t believe this.
