Retail Therapy At The Carboot Sale.

I know how to give our lass a good time.  We put some motion lotion in the van and J, Bronte the Golden Retriever and me went for a spin to a carboot sale.

We were not going selling this week.  We wanted to buy stuff.  It was very busy and well attended.  What a difference a dry day makes.  Here's some of our purchases:

New bar stools for the breakfast bar.  The ones we have a lovely rusty speckled patina on them.  Muzz Muss seems to have taken a liking to them.  We paid ten Euros for both of them.  I know.  But you have to put the boat out sometimes!
A brand new pair of wellingtons or the " rubber boots" that they call them here in West Cork.

My steel toe capped wellingtons split a hole in them when I was planting that hedge the other day. On Saturday I donned a carrier bag tied on my leg inside the wellington boot.  On Sunday I treated myself to a new pair.

The bar stools costs 10 Euros and the wellingtons 25 Euros.

Anyone else been car boot shopping recently?

  1. Trying to avoid finding bargains at present - back home and my bro has sheds full of stuff he would like me to adopt. Your bar stools were a good deal - not so sure about the boots

  2. Welcome home Tigger's Mum. It would be great to have a look in your brothers sheds. The sellwr had cleared an house and was given the bar stools. The wellingtons were not cheap but I needed new ones.

  3. I've not been to one for years, they don't happen to close to us, plus to do tend to wonder past just seeing other people's junk. Marlene, Poppypatchwork

  5. We often travel two hours along rural roads to get to a decent sized car boot sale. After experiencing the Covid lockdown. Travelling does not bother us. I am not fan of Sunday mornings,in the countryside. I like to get out and meet people and have a chat Marlene. Thanks.

  6. J found them JayCee. I prefer buying and browsing rather than selling. It was a dry day and well attended. I wish carboots qere held more than just Sundays. I have been to midweek ones on holiday in Cornwall.

  9. Tories are generally a bunch of barstools. As for the wellies, 25 euros seems like a lot to me. Surely they were not acquired at the car boot sale? Same ones appear to be £13.49 on Amazon.uk but rising to £38 from a different seller.

  10. You can pay 150 Euros for wellingtons YP. The carboot was made up of carbooters and market traders. They are brand new but not steel toecapped like my old ones. Everything seems to be getting more and more expensive. You would think Dunlop were made of old tyres.

  12. I think there's only one boot sale still going until the weather closes them and a one-off December sale elsewhere and then it's a wait until next Spring - sadly

  13. I am sure that if you had melted down a couple of old Dunlop tyres, you could have made your own wellies Dave.
