Tight Wad Tea Choice.

Here's how I picked my tea for tonight.

We walked around Tesco and went to their Reduced Section.  Here's what I found and I made my meal choice by looking at the price label:

Stuck for a food idea for tea?  Have a trip to your supermarket and look in the Reduced section.

Do you go looking for food bargains?

  1. I always look for bargains. Not often found here. There's only 1 supermarket and a few grocery shops.
But Lidls!! I wonder when I'll go there again. Love their bargains

    1. Hi Linda. Living in Ireland which is such an expensive country. It's good to seek out bargains. I am glad we live near Lidl.

  2. That was a bargain!
We always visit the reduced section to look for the yellow stickers and buy bargains when we can get them. These days, though, I also have to check the ingredients to make sure there is nothing to unsettle my poor stomach so no more ready meals for me. I like it when they have salmon or chicken fillets reduced to half price. They are so expensive at full price.

  4. That won't work for me, I have a few allergies and then things I don't like, chillies are top of the list. Marlene, Poppypatchwork

  5. Thanks Marlene. We grew chillies this year in the polytunnel. They are very easy to grow and require little water. I wild probably complain the shop bought chill is too mild.

  9. Thanks. It was fine but not very hot and spicy.

  10. I am happy to buy certain reduced price items but there are some I would steer away from - including fish, fresh chicken and stir fry vegetables. If you are cooking the reduced item on its "use by" date then you'll surely be perfectly fine. Also - it is good to have some space in your freezer to save certain reduced price items.

  11. Totally agree YP. Even sliced loaves of bread can be frozen. Perhaps we should all go shopping when they reduce the price?

    1. Have you tried shoplifting? That is even cheaper and you get what you want. Herr Lidl doesn't seem to mind. It helps to save money for your household bills.

  12. Or you could play at taking food out of othe4 peoples shopping trolleys and tell them they haven't paid for it yet? It's a great way of starting a chat.

  14. When we were out of venison, and needed to buy meat, we would go to the store and buy our meat from the 5 for $19.99 cooler (do they have those there?). I was quite good at getting there at the end of the weekend when they marked some of those meats for $1 off to move them out of the store. So I usually ended up paying $14.99 for the lot. I bring them home, put them in the freezer. It's a good cost saver.

I love slow cooker chili. Beans, minced meat, tomatoes, pepper and onions, let them simmer away for an afternoon. Makes the house smell great too.

  15. They do a 3 for 9 Euros meat offer in Lidl Debby. I love a good chilli. The hotter the better.
