Odlums soda bread mix. If you had the Smellavision app you would be in Heaven!
Talk about: "If I had know you were coming I'd have baked a cake or even a loaf of bread?"
Potato, tomato and leek soup and a slice of home baked bread 🍞.
Yours truly prepared the vegetables and J baked the bread. I even had some veg peelings left over for the rabbits tea.
We didn't liquidise the soup. J said it was a bit too "tomatoey". I said it was too "Potatoey". She agreed. Are they words? Well they are now!
Anyone else been making their own soup?
"Blessed are the "Cheese makers"
Or was it the "Soup maker's?"
Perhaps liquidising the soup would have made it less tomatoey and potatoey ... just sludgey? Tasty though.
ReplyDeleteTrue JayCee. It was more: "It's what you need. Not what you like?" The tomatoes/tomatos gave a baked beans like reaction to ones digestion. I think I may have said: " New shoes vicar?". 😊 It would have made a good stew if we added some meat. The bread was delicious. I can understand why they bake bread fresh every day in France.
ReplyDeleteAah...windy soup!
DeleteOnly for me JayCee. I blame it on my heavy use of condiments like HP sauce and sometimes a hot chilli sauce. I like it: " Hot, hot, hot!"
ReplyDeleteWe had leek and potato soup, using home grown leeks with homemade bread, nothing taste better.
ReplyDeleteAmbrosia for ye gods Marlene. The frost really helped convert the starches to sugars. You can't buy that freshness in the the shops can you? Leek and potato soup is probably my favourite soup at the moment. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteProbably make a pot of soup on Sunday, sir!
ReplyDeleteTiz the soup season Debby. I would love a freshly baked loaf every day.
ReplyDeleteWe'll have a nice pot of lentil soup, me thinks.
DeletePlease write a soup blog post with photos or drawings Debby.
DeleteNo butter on that hunk of bread Dave? I guess that butter is expensive in IRA-land. Do you want me to send you some?
ReplyDeleteNot with soup YP. I had some Kerrygold with my bread and jam for breakfast this morning. Does that English north country outlawed group: The Hi Alreet Party still exist?😊
ReplyDeleteYep! Robin Hood still leads the outlaws.
DeleteGood to know. Who appears in Coronation Street but you never see him? Willy Heckuslike!
ReplyDeleteOh I could do with some fresh Irish soda bread. And potato and leek soup. Blitzed for me! I don't often eat bread now but I can just imagine that enticing smell and the way it fills the house
ReplyDeleteYes it's wonderful at this time of year Linda. It's an Irish Odlums soda bread mix and some Lidl buttermilk. The leeks are very good after the frost.
DeleteThey look so delicious. I really must make some soup this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe bread was delicious and my soup making efforts was OK Jules. Better than anything you buy in a packet or a tin. I suppose if you made enough. You could freeze some.
