Cornish Treats In County Kerry.

We went shopping in Killarney and Tralee on Saturday.

We got sorted with our Christmas presents purchases and I found some Cornish treasure:

Eight bottles of Doom Bar bitter.  Ambrosia for ye gods.  They have a wonderful hops smell and taste.

The last time I supped/sampled this bitter was in Wetherspoon's in Kent in 2019 for two Pounds per pint.

The other thing we bought were the famous Ginster Cornish pasties in Iceland, the foodstore not the country.

It's good to be able to get some Blighty food and drink treats.

  2. Though not as good as the Yorkshire pudding, the Cornish pasty was a fine culinary invention. One day I shall have a go at making my own Cornish pasties but they will be called Yorkshire pasties. Rather than pastry I shall use Yorkshire pudding.

  3. Hollands pies are excellent too. A pasty shop in Haworth would be a gold mine.

  6. That's what I thought when I saw those pasties Linda. The Hairy Bikers are two northern English lads who have their own cooking programme. Look at the BBC Food website and they are on You Tube. The beer is excellent too.

    1. Ginsters are only good for service station food! lol the inside is grey paste. Get ye to the shops and purchase some beef skirt. Be liberal with the pepper as well. You can thank me later Dave! ha ha If I can over the next few weeks once we are a bit more straight and have the floors in another room sorted, I will get book shelves up and look out my hairy biker book. I am sure it is pink gingham on the cover... the recipe is in there

  7. Gregg's sell chilli pasties. I sampled Somerset and Dorset pasties when I visited Thimas Hardy country a few years ago. We are messed up at the moment with chased channels for the pipes for our newish oil range. My wife often bakes pasties and makes meat and potato pies. Thanks Sol.
