Restoration Of An Overgrown Veg Plot.

I visited a garden the other day.  My task was to rescue a veg plot and get it ready for this years vegetable production.  This is how it looked:

All overgrown with grass and a leaning garden fork waits forlornly for someone to cultivate the veg plot again.  I took this photograph.

This is how it looked after Dave the soil slave spent four hours toiling and forking over the veg plot:

Here I am with my new yellow wellybobs.   I am using my four prong pike.  My Azada hoe is lay down having a rest.  It said: "I'm knackered".  You can also see my two weeding buckets, the fork from the top photo, my stainless steel handled shovel that came from Blighty and the white plastic carrier bag contained my work gloves, two bottles of water and a can of coca cola.  The wife took the photo.

Not a bad job.  If I say so myself.  A Robin perched on my shovel and said:

"Tiz a grand job boy. "

  2. Thanks JayCee. I am far from expensive. It paid for some beer and compost tokens. Thanks.

  4. Thanks Kathy. We could barter with our veg plants and perennials if we lived nearer. It's wild and windy here today.

  5. True. I spend enough time on my own or should I say with my plants.

  6. A very good job. You can always trust the word of a bird I have heard.

    1. Thanks Debby. A little bird said something similar. I have a theory that gardeners become Robin's when they die.😊

    2. I know that here, they love freshly turned dirt and are there in a twinkling to give it a good once over for fat worms.

  8. Well done Dave! An impressive project. I bet your muscles - back especially - were sore after all that labour. Nice of Mrs Northsider to watch you working from the comfort of her deckchair. Is she your line manager?

  9. Tiz truly a grand job, Dave m'lad. That wasn't an overgrown vege garden , that was an overgrown cow paddock. All that work keeps you out of mischief that's for sure

  10. Hi Linda. It was very thirsty work. It was good to look back at a job well done.

  11. That was a grand job - but when we are absorbed in our work how time flies. Do you find that? The view from the plot is spectacular too - looks like the clouds are scudding in and past. Lambing storms we used to call them.

  12. Thanks The bike shed. I am a good day dreamer and can soon switch off and not think about the task. We have some spectacular scenery. 6ou know that because you visited Beara across from us. We get some amazing sunsets too. Lambing storms. Great description. Thanks.

  16. Thanks Christina. I swear by my Azada hoe. They're brilliant for clearing vegetation. I am very affordable and you can swap me some cans of Thwaites bitter or bottles of Newcastle Brown if you want?😊
