I'm looking for a part time job. Just two or three days a week. The rest of the week will be mine for propagating plants, listening to Rock music, walking, looking round carboot sales, charity shops and reading and writing blogs..
I went back to the island for a day last week covering while a friend went for their jab. I said to one of my workmates I would love a part time job and he's a dairy farmer and he said three days a week would be perfect for him.
I asked why couldn't the working week consist of six days including Saturday and we all each worked three days?
Job sharing would put an end to unemployment and everyone would have a decent living wage. I think it's wrong that some people can have five day a week jobs and some have none.
Imagine if you had a three day a week and think of all the time you would have to tend your allotment, go hiking or what ever you wanted to do? I'm fifty seven and feeling my age and I've too much to do to work full time.
What are your thoughts folks on a three day week?
I am not sure if working only three days a week would have paid my mortgage back in the day. I would have loved the extra time off though.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a mortgage JayCee. No one would ever give me such a loan. I suppose it's all down to how much to live on? Some folk are depressed when they are down to their last million. I have too many things to do to do and I think job sharing would benefit everyone. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine being down to my last million!
DeleteNo. What did Woody Allen say about being rich? "You can be depressed in some very nice places". 😊
ReplyDeleteIf there was a political party called "The Three Day Weekend Party" I would probably vote for it. Another policy that would appeal to me is allowing everybody a paid day off on their birthday. If you train up to be a male escort you will be able to pick an choose your work hours. Expect a lot of requests from convents.
ReplyDeleteMy Three Day Week Party would make Saturday a working day so that two people could job share and work three days each week. It's a break from the Western rat race and jobs for all. Much more emphasis should be put on leisure like walking and tending an allotment...
ReplyDeleteAnd spending quality time with nuns.
DeleteBut don't get into the Habit!😊 I like Blue Nun wine🍾.
ReplyDeleteHere things are kind of flexible. Workers are so badly needed they are offering 3 12 hour shifts per week, 4 10s. Part time jobs are easy to find. Here everyone is desperate for the full time jobs, because that's how you get your insurance.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us know about work in America Debby. I wish we lived where there are lots of part-time well paid jobs. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHey now...no one said anything about well paid.
ReplyDeleteThere's poorly paid jobs everywhere Debby. Thanks for getting back.
