DeleteYears ago I listened to a reading on tape of the Shackleton story and cried when it came to the rescue. The physical toughness of the men and their mental bravery was really something else. And to think, having been to the Antarctic once, many went back for more! We went to a Shackleton exhibition in London years ago, husband being a history nerd. The clothing and equipment was all so basic and heavy, nothing like today's kit. It really puts modern living into perspective.
