What Did I Do In 22?

The first half of the year was quite dull after the Covid lockdown and we didn't get to see many places until July.  Then it all changed:

Blasket Isles- old Post Office.   Stayed overnight with no facilities and listened to the seals singing all night.
Clannad at Cropredy.  I also saw them in Limerick in May and it was  the 5th time of seeing them.
Finally saw Mr Genesis or Steve Hackett.  Amazing performance.
Tolkein and CS Lewis Oxford famous watering hole and meeting place for the Inklings.
I met a certain bear statue at Paddington Station.
Nectar for ye Rock gods followers.
Ian Anderson and his Jethro Tull.  Also the 5th time of seeing them.  One punter told my friend he was seeing them for the 257th time!
Tents in a Canterbury graveyard.  There's so much homelessness in Blighty these days.  There's  plenty in Ireland too.
Ploughing championships in County Laois.   The World and his wife attended with 100000 people in attendance.  It was sweltering and I paid 6 Euros for a pint of Heineken.

We made it to the  Algarve in October.  I never thought we would get to see the place ever again.  Hopefully we'll be there some time this year.  I love Portugal and its people and superb weather.  It's throwing it down just for a change here in Eire.
We got pigs again.

Donkeys  arrivals and a certain little pony called Kev.  He's  planning on getting a lady friend very soon.  Watch this space and hope you have a great 2023.

  4. 2022 was a pretty good year for you Dave. Previously you did not mention that Seal was on The Blasket Isles when you were there. Did he sing "Kiss From A Rose"? Happy New Year!

  5. Thanks Rachel. It was great to see things getting back to normal and it was 33 degrees at Cropredy in August and 28 degrees in the Algarve in October. Could do with that sunshine now.

  6. The second half of 22 was good because I got to see some live bands again, walked some of the Dingle Way, stayed on the Blasket Isles, took in two music festivals, visited Oxford and we got to see the Algarve again later in October. Thanks YP.

  8. HNY Vix. Unlike that Jethro Tull song, you're never Too old to rocknroll." Thanks!

  9. Happy new year to you and yours. I've meant to tell you this story. This summer, Mattie told me that they got a donkey. "What do you do with a donkey?" I asked. "Annoy the neighbors, mostly, I guess."

  10. Same to you Debby. I like your story. We keep them to eat the grass that we can't eat ourselves, for pets and for their manure for the garden and veg plot. What do you call a 3 legged donkey? A wonky!๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

  12. I didn't know there is a Paddington Bear statue. Do the donkeys and pigs belong to you?

  13. Apparently there are 50 Paddington bear statues in London River. Michael Bond, Paddington Bear author unveiled the one in the picture. Yes the livestock are ours.

  14. A great review with all those photos. I hope you can start booking Portugal again very soon, get out of the tunnel and soak up the sunshine.
The Blasket Isles. They sound exotic to me lol

  15. Thanks Linda. I hope we get there (Algarve) again this year. The trip on the boat to the Blasket Isles seemed precarious and the waves were like hills in August. Those islanders were made of strong stuff. Mighty people.

  16. I say JT in December 2021 - a Christmas concert in a cathedral. Enjoyed it except for the annoying chap in black prowling the aisles muttering about phones

  17. I saw them in August and Ian's voice was not good at all. Still a brilliant flautist and showman. I saw Martin Barre and his new band at A New Day Festival in 2019. They were good and they have a very good singer very similar to IA. I still wish Martin and Ian patched it up and made Tull they band we remember. Thanks Traveller.

  18. I have had similar experiences of being told to shut up at concerts.
