Still Propagating.

I bought two new kinds of Sedum plants the other month.  So I couldn't resist and got my scissors out and made cuttings.  Now I'm  making cuttings  out of new cuttings plants.

Here's some I made earlier:

Anyone else been making new plants?

  1. Our garden here in the rental property is a little bare in places so P has been taking cuttings from our neighbours' plants. Most seem to be surviving. I hope they last until we eventually move on.

    1. Good on P JayCee. I've said it before you don't need a garden to grow stuff. I always have cuttings growing in glasses on the inside of the kitchen window sill. Would P not put his name down for an allotment? I once had an allotment in England and I made a lawn and put up a shed and made perennials borders and grew vegetables too.

  2. I have not been making new plants but you would have been proud of me on Saturday. I drove into a garden centre in the village of Calver looking for a few fill-in pea plants but they did not have any veg plants left apart from a few strip trays of tired looking kohl-rabi seedlings. The attendant with the blue hair said they were free so I took two strips and have already made a row of them in our vegetable plot. After Sunday's rain they are looking pretty perky. Have you ever grown kohl-rabi?

  3. Is Kohl Rabbi from Israel? I could grow Kohl Mullah or Kohl bishop even😊. I think its turnip cabbage in German, We one grew it when we lived in that posh village near Manchester airport. Posh lived near there with David. Sounds like you nabbed yourself a bargain YP. You can sow Spring cabbage in July. I plant winter onions in September.

  4. I'm just trying to keep my plants alive. Some of them are seriously wilting.
You are turning into a plant Warehouse! Hope you can sell some on

  5. Hi Linda. Yes we had a week or two like that when some of our potted plants looked like they belonged to the Munsters. They will recover when the rain returns like it is here at the moment in Ireland. I have hundreds of perennials. Another thing I collect.

  6. Just had some very welcome rain for the plants and to refill the IBCs. Just in time, we need to fix up a better harvesting area. Have rooted some Lemon grass and some sedums.
I grow kohl rabbi and use it for coleslaw and as a water chestnut substitute in stir fries.

  7. Hi Kathy. I found watering all the pots a chire every morning. The plants and vegetables inn the ground seemed to manage without relying on me to water them. Everything is greening up nice since the rain started. Thanks for the kohl rabbi uses.

  8. My sister propagated a batch of geraniums, a begonia that supposedly came from Laura Ingalls Wilder's garden, and some hibiscus. She's as excited about her propagation as you are, NC.

  9. You sent me down a rabbit hole looking up Laura Ingalls Wilder's garden, Debby. I remember watching 'Little House On The Prarie'. Pioneer gardens sound really interesting. It sounds like your sister as the plant propagation gene.😊 Nature is incredible and you don't need to spend much money to have a nice garden.

  10. Well, Northsider, I have a plant propagated from that very 'mother plant', and if ever I meet you, I will bring you a start of your own, if you don't mind breaking international laws.

  11. Not at all Debby. I brought two wheely bins of plants from England when I moved here. I did enquire about a plant passport and because they weren't exotic the powers that be said there was no need. Thanks for your kind offer. Likewise I would reciprocate with my plants.
