Hungry Hill On A Cold And Snowy Morning.

The wife took this picture with her mobile phone this morning.  We had woke up to a snowy landscape across the bay.

It made me think of that great American band Mountain and their classic track Nantucket Sleighride.  I think it's closing bars of the track was the theme tune for "Weekend World"?

I learned recently that Mountain guitarist Leslie West passed away in December.  I would loved to have seen them play.

  1. I like Mrs Northsider's picture of Hungry Hill dusted with icing sugar. Have you ever been to the top of Hungry Hill? If not I shall challenge you to go up there on a nice day. You can get yourself sponsored to raise money for a charity that is close to your heart - perhaps the DNBF (Dave Northsider Beer Fund).

  2. No I haven't been to the top of Hungry Hill Mr Pudding. I would love to see tankers full of Thwaites bitter, Newcastle Brown Ale..., sail down the bay and I will have my own bitter tanks at the Northsider Towers charity headquarters. Do you like the band Mountain?

    2. Yes YP a great band. I am sure you remember Brian Walden's Weekend World? The Mountain tune was the theme music for the programme. Thanks.

  3. Might I suggest a far more worthy charity: "Patching Portugal". Is Hungry Hill a volcano or something? It is interesting how it seems to have collapsed in on itself.

  4. Good idea Debby. Hungry Hill is a famous book and film. I have been told its an extinct volcano. Theres also the mares tail there. It's the biggest waterfall in Ireland and the UK. Thanks.

  7. I will pass on your praise the Veg Artist. I took a similar photo but it wasn't the same quality. Thanks.

    1. Could Mrs Northsider take over this blog while you do the cooking, cleaning and ironing?

    2. Is it because she takes better pictures than me? The iron hasn't been used for years. I am allergic to Hoovers and I don't think a staple diet of baked beans would suffice.
