When Did Tangerines Or Mandarins Become Easy Peelers?

We picked up this net bag of "Easy Peelers" for 39 Cents today from our German garden centre and supermarket and beer providers.  I looked at the label: "Easy Peelers".

Who decided to change their names?  I mean they do what it says on the tin/label.  They are very easy to peel.  I am sure they will still fit in a Christmas stocking?

All the way from sunny Spain to rainy West Cork.  Well it is today and tomorrow.

  2. Ronseal woodstain advert JayCee. What a brilliant slogan. Easy Peelers say what they are. Thanks. Is it raining over on the IOM? It's horrible here and I can't see the bay.

  3. Yes I watched the Countryfile weather forecast last night. It's going to be a long time before we can do any outside gardening. I could do with another polytunnel.

  4. We have an easy peeler tree in our garden and up in the vegetable plot we grow good roasters next to the heavy croppers and the hybrids under the magic money tree (teresaus mayas). However, at the moment our crop of mud is thriving.

  5. Hi YP. We have a little lemon and a little orange plant in Portugal the polytunnel. Have you considered making raised beds and this will give you much improved drainage and a greater depth of soil for root crops? That's two bottles of Theakstons old Peculiar for my gardening advice please.

    1. No? Not even tangerines or mandarin oranges? The easy peelers are like a new potato. You can peel them with your thumb nail. Thanks,

    2. We have them here but they have been called "cuties" right along. They have yet to be renamed. PS I myself call them tangerines or mandarin oranges. 'Cutie' is what I call the cat. Who is not an easy peeler either.

    3. "Cuties". I think I prefer tangerines or "easy peelers". Great name for a cat.

  7. Thank goodness for easy peelers. My favourite. We were given a bag from our neighbours trees. So easy to eat and only 2 pips per fruit

  8. I wish I lived near citrus trees. I remember the aroma from the orange blossom in the Algarve. If you could only bottle that smell? Thanks Linda.
