A rotating Sprinkler. We saw it for sale in Dealz (Poundland in England) for sale for just four Euros.
Unlike people who have mains water. We have a well so there will not be any hose pipe use restrictions in my polytunnels and veg plot and garden.
It's doing a great job watering especially the new potatoes 🥔 which are forming tubers at the moment.
I don't even need to turn the tap off. I just pull the hose along the path every ten minutes or so.
It just shows not all plastic is bad. Rather like my plastic raised beds:
Sounds as though it's just what you need for your plot. I really get tired of watering in the summer. We water every few days now but soon it will be daily. It doesn't take long but it's that daily chore in daily heat
ReplyDeleteYou can get watering systems with timers on them. I just move my Sprinkler every ten minutes in the polytunnel Linda. I move it about four times in total. It's excellent.
DeleteI refuse to alarm you with questions about plastic traces leeching into the soil.
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough YP I read recently that they have found plastic in the clouds and rainwater. It seems to be everywhere including my polytunnel which is made of it.
DeleteNice one! I wouldn't water with water straight from a mains tap anyway
ReplyDeleteTrue GZ. There are a lot of chemicals added to mains drinking water.
DeleteI have had the water butts run dry one year...filled them from the mains, with the stream of water hitting the side inside..you could smell the chemicals..then let it stand at least 12 hours before using.
DeleteNow I have four water butts instead of one....
Gosh. Water butt's and IBC tanks are well worth obtaining to fill with rain water for the garden GZ.
DeleteA well, that's amazing for you and your plants. Plastic has its use, its one use plastic which is the huge problem, it so handy for food and drinks, we just have to find a way to recycle it. Marlene, Poppypatchwork
ReplyDeleteThanks Marlene. Plastic is ok if we give it a long life and repurpose it when ever we can and hopefully it will be made into plastic again when the product comes to the end of its life time. I see lots of plastic washed up on beaches and no bins to put it or litter in.
ReplyDeleteWe jave a borehole, last year we had problems when the water table level dropped ( in Wales !!!) So now we have 12 ibc all linked with hoses to distribute the water where needed. It is amazing how quickly we empty for watering.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Your IBC watering system sounds brilliant Kathy.
DeleteI hope it does 4 euros worth of work for you. Ours got all UV brittle in a short time, but yours might be OK if it is in the Polytunnel.
ReplyDeleteI stood on my last sprinkler Tigger's Mum. UV does do serious damage to things. Polytunnel covers in particular.
