Filling Up Quickly.

'PORTUGAL' my torn and ripped polythene cover that's still a functional polytunnel is starting to get very packed with cuttings both perennials and shrubs.

Propagating plants is a great way of making a garden without spending a fortune.

You don't need money just patience and a love of plants.  But you can have a garden of delight.

Are you in the mood for a bit of Goth Rock?

Here's The Mission.  I have been fortunate enough to see them play live at Manchester Apollo a couple of times.  What a splendid band!

  1. Looks as though Portugal could do with a bit of tidying up. I can take some of it off your hands if you like?
That video looks interesting, although I can't listen to it. I think Goth Rock somehow passed me by.

  2. "I beg your pardon? I never promised you a rose garden!"
My organized chaos is actually in a state of being tidied up. It's my man cave/office/polytunnel.

Gothic Rock was a kind of Post Punk genre of Rock with jangly guitar riffs and some nice heavy Rock lead breaks. Bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and my favourite All About Eve come to mind. All About Eve were more of a Gypsy Goth type of band. Hippy like and ballady and different clothes styles like the Punk Rock movement had. Black make up and clothing was very popular and there is an annual Gothic festival in Whitby every year. Appropriately where Dracula came to shore and written by the great Irish author Bram Stoker.

  4. Portugal looks busy! I think F and I would like it in Portugal (but we might be inclined to put sticky tape on the tear if you haven't already done so). xxx Mr T (PS, F does the sticking, I do the tearing....)

  5. I love my polytunnel Tigger. Apparently the sun breaks down the plastic naturally. It's been patched up a few times and sadly it's beyond the point of repair. I don't really fancy digging the plastic up which is held down by soil. Even on a wet day I have somewhere to garden and potter about. I have had the tunnel since 2013 so I guess we have had our money worth. Domino and Kitty Tiger and Midnight like to use the wooden door frame for a scratching post and Domino bounces on the roof like a trampoline. They also leave footprints in my seed trays full of compost and germinating seeds.

  6. As Portugal is so torn and ripped, perhaps you should change its name to Ukraine.

    1. I did not mean to cause offence and I am glad to hear that the wind damage to Portugal was not as bad as I had imagined. Perhaps the Portuguese Tourist Authority should adopt your remark as its next advertising slogan... "It's a good place to go when it's raining".

  8. No offence taken YP. Portugal is worth visiting even if its rain. It's warm rain not like our rain at all and it soon dries up.
