I spent an hour in Algarve my polytunnel yesterday digging potatoes 🥔 trenches for the new potatoes which are chitting in our dwelling nearby.
Here's the trenches:
I got my loppers and cut ✂️ some Buddleia branches and stuck them in the ground for row markers. They should also strike roots and I will get some free new shrubs in the process.
One also filled and forked a wheelbarrow of fym over the potatoes growing area.
I will dig trenches for the outside new potatoes if the ground ever drys up again?
It's good to be a busy bee 🐝 isn't it?
Very productive... and lots of good exercise.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be overwhelmed by spuds this year.
Thanks JayCee. You can never have enough new potatoes. Our plates will runneth over with spudatoes.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can't have too many new potatoes, but you can definitely have too much Buddleia.
ReplyDelete- saying by Socrates.
DeleteMaybe if you own a bombsite or railway stay Tasker? I sometimes plant pencil length dogwood sticks to mark the rows and get new shrubs in the process. Buddleias are brilliant for attracting Butterfly's.
ReplyDeleteEven railway station.
ReplyDeleteBusy bee? You mean like an industrious Brentford supporter? Brentford supporters will be praying tonight that they don't get pulverised by Man City!
ReplyDeleteThe Bee is the symbol also for Manchester YP. Worker bees or grafters are displayed on a lot of its public buildings. Brentford will need to graft to beat the Citizens.

ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for spring.
ReplyDeleteIt would be good if we could hibernate or fly south to warmer climes Debby.
DeleteI spent a few minutes this morning watching busy bees buzzing in and out of the hole in the huge tree trunk fairly close to my home, they have had a hive in there for years! There must be gallons of honey in there by now.
ReplyDeleteGallons of 🍯 honey. Aren't the bees amazing River?
ReplyDeleteBumblebees are putting in appearances already - they are definitely busy.
ReplyDeleteDo they ever stop? Especially human gardening bees?
ReplyDeleteYou are a busy bee, as usual. Have you ever thought of keeping a few hives?
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. I haven't thought of keeping bees. I believe honey can be used for rooting cuttings because it prevents disease rotting the stems. My grandfather kept bees I believe.
