Keeping Warm Christmas Presents.

We went for a saunter around Aldi the other day.  This is what J bought me for Christmas:

A one size Ladies/Men Hooded Blanket.  Twelve Euros in a cheap discount supermarket.  They are 20 Euros in a more upmarket store like Dunnes or Tesco.

Just the ticket when Storm Eowyn strikes in the next few days or even tonight🤔?

Someone's  obviously been reading my blog posts about me wearing a jumper to bed and fuel poverty?

I wore it to bed and it does what it says on the tin or cardboard even.  It keeps you warm.

Here's what I purchased dear readers:

Two jars of pickles and a bottle of Jameson Irish whiskey.  For making hot toddies only to keep us warm of course. For what other reason would I get a bottle of whiskey?😀

I wouldn't getting mind a nice bottle of malt Scottish whisky.  What is your favourite malt?  Mine's Dalwhinnie.

  1. I would like one of those to wear in the evenings, sitting on my sofa with my pretend stove flickering away.

  2. They are brilliant JayCee. I was roasting in bed last night. I hope you have a cracking holiday in Espana.😊

  3. I prefer Irish whiskey - Powers was always my favourite but I rarely drink it as I have discovered that even a small glass of the stuff will cause me to wake up in the middle of the night and then I can't get back to sleep. The unisex hooded blanket looks so cool even though it is meant to keep you warm. Chuck Berry used to wear one on the tour bus. Roger Whittaker had a purple one.

  4. I prefer the smoky peaty Scottish whiskeys YP. Jamieson and Bushmills are my favourite Irish whiskeys. I find they help me sleep, especially through gale season.

  5. Such a lot to choose from...and it depends upon the mood....from Talisker, Bunnahavoin and Laphroaig....the Lapsang Souchong of whiskies...to Ardbeg or Old Poultney from Wick....

  8. I got a small bottle of 5 star Metaxa brandy. It slips down easily but most of it went over the Xmas cakes. They taste so much nicer with a wee drop.
We have just finished our bottle of Jamesons. Went to Lidls today and got 2 bottles of cheap no name. No actually they were called Margot or Maginot or heaven knows what. But when you need a boost and a lick of warmth it will do the job

  9. Hi Lidl. Lidl have knocked a tenner off the Jameson whiskey. It's 22 Euros at the moment. Margot sounds like a Scotch whisky we have tried before. It's not bad. The government get 11 Euros tax on a bottle of whiskey over here.

  11. Lol. Of course the whiskey is for to keep you warm. We've got the fire going at our house tonight too. May Eowyn be gentle with you.

You know, going out to the barn to milk in the evening, it always struck me how warm the barn was with all those bovines brought inside. Perhaps you should bring a bit of livestock into your bedroom on a cold night. Just an idea.

  12. Years ago Debby. Farmhouses often had the cow stall under the house. The heat from the cattle would rise and keep the humans warm. Bronte often sleeps on the bed.

  13. Cosy! I'd never want to take it off again.
I do enjoy the occasional single malt. My current bottle is a 12 year Old Pulteney.

Potting On The Perennials Cuttings

I started potting on twenty Osteospermums cuttings today. I took them in Autumn and placed them in small plant pots with a very sandy mediu...
