I took this photograph last night when we had a power cut during Storm Darragh:
Just like our Grandparents winters. I don't think they had scented candles but they give the ambience of what it must have been like.
I suppose they also had Tilley lamps and oil lamps and went to bed early in winter?
Father would cut a cardboard box into a television shape and place it on his head and say:
" Good evening. This is the news".😊
I think we had a gas television when I was growing up🤔?
Our power was only out for half an hour thankfully.
Here's Michael Schenker and his group who I saw in Ballyshannon in Donegal in 2o23.
I knew I could put a music video link in there somewhere. Time to play "air guitar" me thinks.
.
Glad you didn't lose power for too long. It was a wild night all over.
ReplyDeleteThanks JayCee. The hot toddy's helped me sleep through the storm.
ReplyDeleteDreadful weather here too. Didn't seem to stop raining for days but probably wasn't that long. We had a bit of sunshine today. That's where we're lucky. Sunshine is always something round the corner
ReplyDeleteAir guitars don't require electricity, so you can play them any time. I'm glad that you came through alright. It sounds like it was a bad one.
ReplyDeleteIt's supposed to be dry here for a few days LA. Every thing and every where is saturated. Everything looks very green and verdant after all the free nitrogen in the rain. Very cold rain.
ReplyDeleteHair brushes make good microphones Debby. Perhaps Bob Dylan could have used our ideas when he played electric guitar at the music festival years ago?😀 We have had worse storms. I was reading that the recent storms are the worst in living memory. Some farmer was telling me he had heard the moon is too near the earth. Eventually it will move away and the storms will not be so violent. I think living next to the Atlantic ocean doesn't help.
ReplyDeleteThat photo is baffling. Is that your fire in the top left hand corner? It's a stormy night here in South Yorkshire but I still might go out to purchase a takeaway curry from "Bilash" on Sharrowvale Road. Haven't had one in a while. I will just ask the missus..."Oi! Woman! Fancy a curry?" She says yes.
ReplyDeleteYes that's the lit stove on the left and the other lights are candles. I wish I could walk down the road for a curry or a pint YP.
ReplyDeleteIt's all swings and roundabouts Dave.
DeleteIt would be good to have a place close to the city for leisure and Rock concerts, work and amenities and a country retreat. The best of both worlds YP.
ReplyDeletePower cuts tend to be much more scented these days :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you only lost power for half and hour.
ReplyDeleteIt does us good sometimes to switch off all these things...even if involuntarily!
Yes they do Jules😊.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree GZ. We take so much for granted.
ReplyDeleteNotwithstanding the howling gales, there's a wonderful peace when the power goes out. Glad you came through with no disasters.
ReplyDeleteYes it is peaceful Jabblog. We do get a lot of gales living on the coast. Thanks.
