Yep it's than time of the week again when I feature a favourite Rock Goddess. Can you guess who she is? Well her band is called Blondie yet a lot of folk thought she was Blondie herself.
Yes it's the one and only Debby Harry. She's 75 now and I still think she's gorgeous.
" I'm in love with a 75 year old Rock star."
Here's Debby Harry singing "Atomic". Hope it's the one with her all dressed up in a black bin bag ? You may have missed out buying new clothes in the January Sales that never happened. Reach out for a black bin liner and make your own sexy outfit!
Way back to 1980 when music was great:
How long before we see some live music again? I see some music festivals are saying that they will be back this Summer. I'll believe it when I see it.
I always wanted to be Debbie Harry!
ReplyDeleteNot much chance of that, being a 5ft 3 in brunette...
Really Debby? It would be great to be a Pop star for a day wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteHi Dave. Do you know what happened to Gwil?
ReplyDeleteI saw Debbie Harry perform in Central Park, as I believe I have told you before.
I left your blog but probably not for the reason you think.
Anyway, glad you are still blogging. Rachel
Hi Rachel. I don't know what happened to Gwil. I hope he's ok.
ReplyDeleteWould loved to have seen Debbie Harry in Central Park. I do remember you mentioning it.
No worries about leaving my blog. I often read your posts. See you are back gardening again?
Thanks for leaving your comment Rachel.
Gwil just suddenly disappeared without a word which I find most odd. I used to have an email address for him but seem to have lost it on an old laptop. Do you have an
Deleteemail address for him you could send me? There is an email link on my blog.
Hi Rachel. I will have a look and contact you. It does sound odd.
DeleteThe sound of my student days - can't believe it was forty years ago now! Where did all life that go?
ReplyDeleteHow time passes... but great music survives and stays with us.
Absolutely Mark. Music from our younger years resonates with us even in our Autumn years. Teenage angst and a good Pogo and a glance at a a New Wave lass made your night back in our formative years. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI cut some arm holes in a black bin bag and the bin men took me away. Chucked me in the back of their wagon and I was crushed before they dumped me in a landfill site. Thanks very much Mr Fashion Guru!
ReplyDeleteThey are only to be modelled by ladies YP. Perhaps we should launch a new bin bag range for ladies and we could also sell blonde peroxide wigs? Who needs Primark or Anne Summers when there are bin bags?😊
ReplyDeleteFunny how one song can immediately bring to mind old memories. I think the earliest song I remember is the Beatles singing "I Want To Hold Your Hand" on the radio. I was sitting at the little table in our kitchen eating breakfast and there was a bad thunderstorm outside. I was terribly upset because I was afraid to walk to school in it. I would have been 6. In thinking about it, I'll forgo the bin bag look. I think it would clash with my gray hair. Should we set out to rescue poor YP?
ReplyDeleteIt's okay Debby. I am safe now. I managed to extricate myself from the rubbish dump and walked home singing "The Tide is High" - also by Blondie.
DeleteSee now...it is stuff like that that gets you dragged off to begin with.
DeleteBrilliant music memories Debby. The late and great Rush Drummer and Lyricist called these memories his 'musical jukebox'. Ghost Rider is a great read and one of Neil's books/ motorbike travelogue memoir. Yes it would be a Patti Smith style wouldn't it? I think we will have a think about when to rescue poor old YP.😊
ReplyDeleteNeil Peart. I omitted his name by mistake.
ReplyDeleteI am not called Neil Peart! Neil yes - but not Peart.
DeleteNeil Peart- Rush drummer, lyricist and author, YP.
