When I was in County Donegal last Saturday I walked near a beach and noticed that the sea had washed these Jellyfish up on to the land.
These were probably the same kind that stung Bronte our Golden Retriever pup 🐶 the other week? Isn't nature so beautiful and
yet can be so cruel?
I took the photo of her sat next to me last night. She's doing fine and no worse for her ordeal.
She's a bit miffed that another Lancashire football team won the Treble. But like I said to her: "They have only equalled United's achievement they can't surpass them."
It's been a good year for jellyfish, apparently.
ReplyDeleteYes and dolphins and whales Tom. Think it's the Gulf Stream bringing them near us.
DeleteDon't the dolphins and the whales eat the jellyfish?
DeleteI don't know what they eat apart from fishes Tigger. Our Domino, Kitty Tiger and Midnight all like fish.
DeleteGreat photo of Bronte and I like your conversation with her. I enjoyed seeing the match last night but would have liked a goal from Inter.
ReplyDeleteIt looks as though Bronte is enthralled by the match.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear she is doing well.
Thanks Rachel. We always have conversations with our pets and livestock. I thought Inter were good in defence but lacked fire power like our teams do.
ReplyDeleteBronte would make a better tv pundit than a lot of the ex professionals JayCee. She went swimming again on Friday. She was a bit wary but we didn't see any of those nasty jellyfish creatures.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about money. At least I don't think jellyfish can be monetised.
ReplyDeleteNo I don't think they can. I wonder if they like milk jelly? An old North Country favourite.
DeleteHow big are those jelly fish? I have never seen one close up or out of the water before. Well. Now that I think of it, I have. When we lived on the Chesapeake Bay, there was a type of jellyfish. It was blue and not big, but it stung. I'm curious about the size of that jellyfish. Do you know what kind it was?
ReplyDeleteI know they are a sign of good weather Debby. They were about six inches long.
DeleteActually, you lead me off on a google hunt. It's a common moon jelly fish, one of five indigenous species off the coast of Ireland. Chesapeake Bay has three and the moon and the lion's mane are common to both sides of the pond.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debby for the heads up on identifying jellyfish.
ReplyDeleteBronte is looking peaceful. I hope the tide washes those jellyfish back out to sea.
ReplyDeleteShe does look peaceful River. The Gulf Stream brings the nice weather but also those nasty Jellyfish.
