A Day Trip To Rye And Mermaid Street.

Continuing with recent trip to Blighty and taking in two Rock music festivals:

We arrived in Canterbury on the Monday and stayed at a campsite until the next festival started on the Thursday.  We had heard rumours of train strikes and decided to base ourselves in Canterbury.

I spent a week there in 2019 when we visited A New Day Festival.  We decided to leave the rucksacks at the campsite that didn't accept CASH and explored parts of Kent and one day we caught the train to Rye in Sussex via Ashford.  I had never visited Sussex before.

Hope you liked the photos?  I particularly like the one of the 🎨 artist painting the church.

I walked into a pie shop and noticed they wanted four pounds sixty for a pasty.  I refrained from buying one and purchased one in Gregg's back in Canterbury for one pounds eighty.  Another day out tomorrow.

    1. Rye is very olde worlde quintessentially English Deb. The shop produce seemed very expensive compared to the high street bakers like Greggs. They seem to having a lot of concerts in the parish church. I noticed that Imelda May was playing there.

  6. Your pictures remind me of a lovely holiday week that Shirley and I once had in Rye. A great little town and a fine base for exploring east Sussex. You were not far from Spike Milligan's grave in Winchelsea.

  9. What a fabulous little yown Dave. We've been there (years ago) to contemplate the harbour and clearly did not spend enough time appreciating the landside. We'll got back on the strength of your photos.

  14. Glad you are enjoying our trip Linda. Places like Wetherspoon's and Greggs help keep the cost down and roughing it camping in a tent. Pasties are something else we miss from Blighty. Although we found some Ginsters Cornish pasties in Iceland last week. Thanks.
